I was wondering if it's possible to have a duplicated adwords campaign (the same used to track different geotargeting or content) on the same adwords account, or on different accounts, where the only difference in the campaigns is the target url. I was indeed wondering if it's possible, respecting 's rules, to have 2 ads that show up on the same keyword query, so that the searcher can see 2 of my adwords ads, in 2 different positions on the same page, where the first ad points to mysite.com and the other one points to myothersite.com. This can be the case where i am, at the same time, promoting 2 sites that are in competition with each other. Can also be the case where myothersite.com have the same or similar content as mysite.com and I might be doubling my adwords exposure by doing so. Is this possible? What if my 2 campaigns are on different adwords accounts? Thanks for sharing your opinions, have nice day.
If the campaigns are on different accounts then I think this idea would work. It does sound a bit strange. If you follow this method you will end up competing with yourself and raising the price of your bids. What do you see as the advantage of this strategy?
One of Google's strictest rules is that you cannot ever have more than 1 ad appear for the same search query at the same time. Using one account it is impossible, the system will just serve the 1 ad that ranks highest. Multiple accounts, for any reason, will get you banned, unless you use a My Client Center (MCC) - and in doing so, they'll know which accounts are yours. Don't even bother trying it. Even if Google don't work out what you are doing, your competitors might, and could tell Google. I have informed Google of such cheats in the past.
Well, let's assume that every google searcher click on one ad and one ad only. I have an affiliate adwords campaign that gets about 5% conversion rate, and the only concern i have is getting more clicks and traffic. I am both sending surfers directly to the merchant site and using a landing page. Now, if I could get, let's say, position 3 with my ad that goes to merchant, and position 5 for my ad that goes on the landing page, i think i would just get a higher chance that one of my ads get clicked, so increasing the number of clicks and then the traffic for my site. TY for your answer, but let me try to understand it better... let's say i use my adwords account from my home pc and i am advertising by using an ad that send directly to the merchant. Now, I get to my office in downtown and by using another adwords account, i just duplicate the campaign and begin to advertise with an ad that sends to my landing page. If i do this, I am using 2 different pc's, with different ip's, different adwords account infos and billing infos, and also different affiliate codes. It's totally like i am a different person, it is exactly as one of my work colleagues started competing with me on the same niche and with the same merchant. I want to understand if this is legal or not, and if not, how would you get caught? Have a nice day and TY for all answers.
If you do like that then your ad will compete each other. So better to avoid this type of duplication.
Exactly - the one click assumption will mean you might end up paying double, because your CTR could be half. So you double your chance of someone clicking on your ad, but pay twice as much per click. Why not do what everyone else does - in the same ad group have both ads. They are called "ad groups" for a reason.
This sounds totally speculating until you come up with some maths about it. I truly doubt my ctr is going to be half and i even more doubt i'm going to pay 100% more. Really
here is a great article that I came across last week that addresses this exact dilemma. thinkseer.com/blog, the article is called "A Case of “The Prisoner’s Dilemma†in Search Engine Marketing" please read it and you'll see the parallels. in the end, enginez (above) has come to this same conclusion. The best solution may be to resist inflating bids and risking being banned (which cannot be undone), and instead report your competitors who are participating in this type of activity. if everyone played fair, everyone would have an accurate reflection of performance. but that's not the case. it comes down to, what do you want to spend your time doing? in my opinion, i wouldn't try to spend time getting around Google's rules. if you get caught, you're majorly screwed and there's nothing you can do about it...and you've wasted time. your competitors can report you too, keep that in mind.
If your leads are converting and are profitable even with your own competing ads, I would do it. Different PCs, location, sign-ons, credit-cards, personal-info, domain. (the content of the domains can be the same) If they are all different it is alright. And if it's all profitable, I'd even get another account. Great idea (again, only if it is profitable)!
CTR has a direct affect on click costs. If you are assuming that only one of your ads is being clicked on, then the other is not getting clicked on - that negatively affects that ad's CTR. If someone clicks on both your ads, you'll be paying double for the conversion. I have spent every waking hour of the last 5 years working on making money via AdWords (and succeeding), and I believe I am giving you good advice.
you haev to use 2 accounts and 2 different domains on 2 different servers and different payment methods, names and billing addresses on each adwords account... and even then your ads will be competing against each other for CTR
This is exactly what i meant. My clicks are very profitable. I got about 500% roi on adwords clicks. I have about 3% ctr on my campaign, this means 97% of people that want my product do not get to my site. I want more fo them to get there, because im sure it's profitable. At the moment i spend about 500$ per month to get 2500$ of commissions. This is 2k profit. If i can get 2x clicks i will get 5.000$ of commission. And if to do that i have to pay 4x for the clicks it is still profitable. I'd be spending 2.000 to make 5.000, and that means 1.000$ more profit. Dont misunderstand me, I really appreciate it I know 2 or more ads will affect my ctr negatively. But this will never be 50% imo, it'll just get a bit down, but nothing that cant be fixed with some ad split testing to improve ctr and balance. As I said i can pay more for clicks to get more traffic. Anyway, I dont want to break adwords rules and risk to get banned. I would indeed use different location, pc's, cards and stuffs. In the end it is like my sister is advertising my landing page and im sending to merchant. But while writing this, a question came to my mind............: What if my flat mate starts a campaign on my same market and google figure we are on the same house? Will we get banned for sharing informations on affiliate marketing and for living under the same roof with similar ip's? TY for all your answers.
Now why would you do something like that for? Do you think Google gives the shit about you? You should worry about YOU and FOCUS on YOU not OTHER people and what they are doing.
I so much agree with this.....reporting (well, trying to, coz they wont give a damn in the world about you) people to google is sooooo lame!
