Curious to hear what people have to say about the Sony Pictures movie 2012 coming out this summer. If you are unaware watch the official trailer here: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/2012/ Looks like a really good action movie about the end of the world, but notice at the end of the trailer where the following text appears: FIND OUT THE TRUTH GOOGLE SEARCH: 2012 Now, a regular doomsday movie is one thing, but Sony is obviously aware of what is on the internet about 2012, and they will be telling millions and millions of people to look this up. Sure most people have heard of 2012, but how many have actually looked into it? And... what will the world be like when say... a billion plus people have looked into it and have a fear of it? Or even embrace it? If people get to thinking the events fo 2012 are a sure thing then why the hell would any of them bother doing anything? I can tell you for sure if I got to the point that I decided 2012 was definetly going to go "as planned" my life would completely change... and I am positive I am not alone in saying that. Anyways, curious to ehar others thoughts on 2012, both the predictions and the movie. Note to mods: Due to the nature of the topic this movie is about I felt it would be better suited in the P&R section as opposed to the General Chat section. If you feel otherwise feel free to move it.
Almost forgot that this movie comes out XD Anyway, I expect great things, I hope it will have a creative plot and not too rushed. Though I wish people would read more about the Mayans and their prediction about this date. afterall the Mayans were experts in astrology and mathematics. from what I have read 2012 is suppose to be a new era, not neccecary the end of the world. but we will see XD
I basically agree ichigo, it does mark the end of a 26,000 year cycle, what that entails... well we don't have much to go on really so it will be a surprise to everyone. It is quite amazing how much people read into it though, the amount of theories floating around is just astonishing.
2012 is just a year like every other year. There are always the kooks screaming "the sky is falling", whether it is Y2K, or 2012, or some lame Nostradamus crap.
Actually if you look into 2012 you will probably form a different opion... Y2K... that was complete crap... wrost case scenerio computers would be messed up... we would be fine... 2012... is a completely different type of event. I am not saying something will happen, I am saying groping it with Y2K and possibly crashing of man made inventions is something someone who is too uneducated on the topic and or too lazy to look into the topic would say.
Did you really need me to show you this: John Major Jenkins, and others [14] claim that an alignment will occur when the sun rises above the horizon on December 21 2012, at which point the sun will rise in the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy, thus causing an alignment between the earth, sun, and the galactic center.[15] This event is said to cause numerous earth changes, however that is not possible considering that the event is only a visual phenomenon from the earths perspective, which is caused by the precession of the equinoxes or the 26,000 year wobble of the earth, which only changes our perspective, not the actual position of the earth in relation to the galaxy. In short, there is no gravitational force or radiation to be expected from this event because other than the tilt of the earth, nothing will be any different than any other solstice. [16][17][18]
There is also suppose to be a Solar Storm Cycle around 2012 which might result blackouts and is stronger then the previous one. Source
There is all kinds of crazy crap schedulled for 2012... but hey lets buy into the browntwn dream world and then everything will ok!
dude, relax, nothing's going to happen. Listen to the scientists for fuck's sake not to some calendar made more than half a millenia ago.
Regardless of how long ago the calendar was made it has been rediculously accurate since its creation.
drmike you are a good man, I can respect your curious, open-minded nature. I haven't heard of the movie about this topic, but I've looked into the topic lately with great interest. Some of the "scientific" minded posters here may take interest in the Horizon Project. I'm not a scientist, so I can't argue scientific claims made here, but I would like some of you to ponder the fact that there are a great deal of ancient cities under water all over the Earth. Tropical rain forests in the arctic, and coral reef in the mountains in the Southwest. Oddities like this don't occur over the course of millions of years (evolution), the changes where sudden. According to Brent Miller (and he claims the rest of the scientific community who have looked into it), there is undisputed evidence of past Earth changes and that these occur in cycles. Brent says this has to do with the alignment of the Galactic Plain, which occurs Dec. 21, 2012. But he has said these changes can occur any number of years around the date 2012. Brent approaches this in a strictly scientific manner. Although he is now looking into prophecy and finding they all speak of the same events. However, within these prophecies are glimpses of a much bigger picture within works like Revelation and "Mayan prophecy" (I haven't read Mayan prophecy yet) with a common phrase "harvesting of souls". I could elaborate on this, but it wouldn't be long before some of the more "realistic" members tell me I'm a "kook". 2012 is the end of an age, not the end of the world. It's my opinion from what I've read and what I feel that it is an enlightening age, a good thing to be cherished. A Great Harvest. It won't be great for everyone of course, those that do so in their own choosing. I doubt anything particular will happen on that specific date December 21. It is just said to be the time we are in alignment with the center of the galaxy. The change is happening now, we're witnessing it in our behavior and weather anomalies for example. I'd be glad to share more, if there is an interest anywhere.
Id be interested in hearing much more myself. I looked into it a bit, but not in any real depth. I too think if anything "catastrophic" happens it will be a good thing and only good things will come of it. With the exception of many, many deaths of course. Have you heard of and looked into the web bot project? Im still on the fence on it, but it is definetly interesting.
Excellent, yes I've heard of that web bot, UrbanSurvival right? Although it is an interesting concept, I'm highly skeptical of it. I monitored it very closely in October and throughout the rest of 2008 only to find none of their predictions come to pass. In fact, it wasn't even close. Because of the "linguistic", "language" system they use and because of the hype and fear on the internet already, I foresee any insight into 2012 by the web bot a guaranteed inaccuracy. (And last I checked they were calling for the end of the world ) I've moved beyond prophecy the past few days to grand stories that would probably make you laugh if you were to read them. I find Michael St. Clair most interesting though, his message resonates with me, and it's a positive one. It has more to do with the era we are moving into rather than the specific date carrying all the hype. Michael St. Clair on C2C AM. Enjoy. He gives good mention of Ron Paul and Austrian School of economics .
I bet you all that the world doesn't end in 2012. In fact, I bet you all a billion dollars that the world will not end. You can start payments now if you would like.
Dammn!! That movie going to be a big time hit. Dont wanna know about 2012 or something. Everybody will have to die someday, let it be than 21 dec. 2012. But this movie seems to be pretty interesting.
I agree Oranges... and I think the people who are being critics saying the world will definetly not end, or there will definetly not be some major catastrophies in 2012 are simple too scared to contemplate the idea or look into it. Hopefully they do realize that someday they die, and knowing that... why nto go out in a sweet ass way such as the events proposed as possibilities for 2012.
I wouldn't say I'm scared to contemplate the possibility of the world coming to an end. But there's no serious reason to believe it will. The end of the world as been prophecied lots and lots of times, and it's always based on some kind of pseudo-science
I agree the ones of the past have been kind of silly, and usually only stem from one person. But 2012 has many people, cultures, and religions prophecising about it.
