Does PR increase gradually or straight away?

    Hi guys,

This question has been bugging me for a while as I have just made my website a week ago ( www.QualityClicks.co.uk ). It is still at PR 0 but is listing well on a few different keywords and was wondering whether it may suddenly increase to PR 2 or 3 one day, or does it have to go to PR 1 first?

    Thanks in advance!

And in return I'll answer Adwords questions :p

Great question! I would love to hear other webmaster's opinions because in all the years I've been on the Internet (since 1992), I have never figured out the answer. I don't think anybody knows the answer because the algorithms that determine page rank are kept highly secret and I also think that Google keeps changing their algorithms periodically in order to keep everybody baffled so that they can maintain their value as an untouchable independent. Does anybody here have any knowledge or experience about this?

That's a good point about the algorithm. Sadly I have never had much experience with creating websites and therefore don't know any experiences of whether the PR has gone up all at once or one rank at a time.

IMO if you talk about PR, i thinks its all about backlink, if you get many link from high PR and you'll fly on the next Google PR update :D CMIIW

But if you actively selling a link at your blog, it will rapidly drop to zero.. :)

You can jump from PR0 to PR5 In one update if you do some major link building. Google makes updates on PR every 3 months or so.

i have a question for you guys then, if you get links from other sites pointing to yours but the links are from pages that dont carry pg rank or a low pg rank then does it count for something, or does 0 pg rank = 0 votes.

I jumped from pr0 (on a new domain) to PR3 on my first experienced PR update.

You don't have to go PR1,2,3,4 etc.. You could hop straight to 3 with the right content to match your keywords / backlink referrers etc.

PR score is like passing an exam test....

You have to score a mark to get the second mark..The end result only shows total marks scored....since it is a sum of all answers given correctly...Hence your site would show up result of any PR at the update depending on your success with google algorithm.

Well I had a blog which I made just a month before google Page rank updates last year. After developing the blog for a month then the google updates came and it has ranked my blog PR 2. So I hope its always depends on your site. And moreover you can't have a jump from PR0 to PR 6 or more, because no site can do it in quarter year :D
