Hi its a link placed on some one elses web page which has a hyperlink back to your site. Its best to use a search term as the text for the link not just your url hope this helps but if not do a serch or scroll throught the posts here as there are lots of answers to be found

Backlink is someone that have hyperlink your blog. If it is dofollow, it will indexed by google bot and will reflect positively in your page rank in next google update. If it is nofollow, you can forget about google, yahoo still index nofollow links. Hope this clears out your question.

Write press release for your website and submit it to press release websites. 3. write articles or outsource to someone who can write well and submit it to articles directories. 4. send link exchange request to other relative webmaster.' 5. create an account in forums with signature containing your link in anchor text. Follow these and you will surely find some or the other chages in your websiteranking.....
I use backlinks dot com. That should help you, they have a free link exchange or paid. You can also use a service like linkmarket dot com

Your back link should be coming from relevant web sites and relevant category otherwise there is no use.
