We can't confirm it that a VPS will solve high resource and mysql usage. Your site will still be using high resource and mysql usage but it will not affect other site as the resource of the server is virtually proportionately allocated to each VPS and the sites hosted in them can't cross the limit.

In shared hosting a lot of sites are hosted in the same server. If some site is using too much resource it will deteriorate the performance of other sites. Thats why you are facing problem in shared environments.

It depends on your blogs. How many requests to your blogs you have at once?

Which blog script are you using? There may be some caching scripts that may help greatly to reduce loads.

If you are using a custom-made script, have it reviewed by some experienced programmer, it may be possible to optimize it at some spots.

I believe their is a wordpress plugin for this.

But as said previously, you will be the one and only using the ressource, so if you dont have enough, just upgrade your vps.
