How to host the best contest

    I have noticed several sites that attempt to get viewers through contests. I have hosted some minor contests myself, but always wanted to make them more organized... and just overall better/more successful.

    Does anyone run contests, and how successful is it for you?

    For those that don't run contests, what would you like to see in a website contests? More detailed, what prizes would you like to see in a contest (this could be a service OR product)?

    Last question, what sites do you think host the best contests?

    From participant point of view,i want to see the contest in run as transparent as possible.
    And it best,if there are some independent party become the contest evaluator.

    Thanks for your input! I agree with both points... 3rd parties will ensure legitimacy. If you could though, explain a bit more into the transparency aspect. I have an idea, but would appreciate it if you could provide some more insight to it :)
