Just look at the category... just once!

In the desperate hopes that some DMOZ editor with the ability to edit (or contact the person that can edit) this category: http://dmoz.org/Games/Puzzles/Brain_Teasers/Riddles/ comes along and sees this.

I submitted a site months ago only to find out recently (last month I think) that the particular category I submitted to hasn't been edited in months and hasn't had a new add in even more months. I'm pretty sure I can get in with the site I submitted as it's relevant, and really popular with visitors (80+ % bookmark rate). Google gave it a PR6 but just won't rank it well because most of my competitors take up the first few pages in google for my keyword because they are DMOZ listed

Like I said I'm confident it will get in I just need someone to look at it!

Surprised you were accepted George, especially if the new listings in the category are from the examples you provided on your editor application:

LOL actually... I only own 1, just one, of the new sites listed in the category. onlyriddles.com

All the rest of the new sites are great sites and I rewrote their descriptions to reflect what their sites are about. If that contained keywords, guess what... it's because those keywords describe their sites! lol And if you're referring to the <title> tag on my site as the "official title" of my site, it's too long and is stuffed with keywords. So in actuality I did the right thing by shortening it down to just 2 words.

Guess what? I know which site is yours If you take a moment and reread what I wrote you'll see I was referring to titles - especially your choice of keywords for the title of your own site. The "official title" of your site would be OnlyRiddles or OnlyRiddles.com, no?

And since you brought up the descriptions - I bet we can both figure out that you should consider rewriting yours when you get done laughing, actually.

Now that you have added your site and approved the other sites waiting in the submission line, there is not much more that you can do, unless you are planning to delete your competition too.
The only thing that your editor account will be good for, is to login and read the internal forum which you will notice is quite boring in comparison with DP or any other half decent forum.
I think this was a good trade overall, you got your site listed and DMOZ can claim one more editor in the next month report.

 

Gworld, that's just mean spirited, Georgeb can do a lot if he wants to. I believe he has a great attitude and will make a very good editor. I look forward to seeing him gain permissions in more categories and prove you wrong.

 

That's not nice Gworld. You know that Georgeb has nothing to do with the issues. You know better.

 

Did I say this was about GeorgeB? This is what happens to at least 90% of all editors, except those who do not get their desired category and can not even list their site.

DMOZ gets "new" editors to push up the stats for new editors and pretend that directory is still alive, while editors will give up after awhile of being an editor without being able to do anything.

 

GeorgeB - welcome to DMOZ - you will find a lot of helpfull editors around in the internal forums and elsewhere. You also get a few scumbag editors, they usually don't post in internal forums, just troll in external ones. It's best to ignore them.

 

And DMOZ gets rid of the corrupt ones it finds - right gw?

Maybe another editor could tell us which would be correct (according to the guidelines):

A. OnlyRiddles
B. OnlyRiddles.com
C. Only Riddles

 

B would be the most correct. A is a little less correct. It shouldn't be C.

P.S. I can still tell which one your site was just by looking at the category. Perhaps you'd like to take another go at it?
