WARNING!!! I read from friend blog (http://tinyurl.com/5a29vf), that 2.5 platform version of wordpress was being hacked by internet bad guys. So if you're using this version on your blog, better upgrade it to the latest version.
I came across this: http://www.googlelady.com/892/hacked-blog-hidden-links-warning-email-google/ but can't find much else about it. The Wordpress official blog hints at a problem with 2.5 but that hint at a vulnerability was ages ago now. My WordPress blogs seem to have taken a hit, so I was clutching at straws to find out why, though everything seems to be OK.
the 2.5 version... if these guys come across your blog, i'm sure they can bring your blog in a mess. better upgrade.
Yeah, Thats reassuring when hostgator takes 5 days to upgrade fanstictico. I need to figure out how to upgrade manually.
Sorry friend i don't agree with you because i have 2.5 but never faced this problem and i have developed thousands of wp sites for my clients i have never heard from them any hacking problem. But anyway thanks for ur Information. Thanks.
If you only have 2.5 (this is an OLD thread) then you don't have the latest version - it is now into 2.7. And if the makers of Wordpress are putting out new versions, partly to correct security errors, then I would take it seriously, whether you have heard of any problems or not! That's like saying, I won't bother upgrading my antivirus because I have never come into contact with Killer.Bagle.Clone.V3!
Currently i have upgraded my all wp vr. to latest but i always use anti virus in my Wp Blog so never faced any problem and another thing i always manually correct the security issues before running the site and chnage a bit in code so never faced such problem that's why i told this.Anyway sorry if i have written anything wrong. Take Care Guys..
Remember, this is an OLD thread from May last year! Though there have been a few specific threats to WordPress, there isn't any particular one out there that this post refers to. That one probably got fixed a long time ago and the most important thing is to keep updating WP whenever a new version comes out, though I am very lazy with that, I must admit... Generally, WP is thought to be a lot more secure than, say, Joomla...
