Hi, I know google determines what ads show up but i host a science tutoring forum. The ads that show are for chemistry related products not tutoring related ads. Is there anyway I can change this. There is little content on the page but what the students ask me. thanks
Perhaps you can write some articles that are only about tutoring. Post enough of these on your site and perhaps Google's algorithm will understand your intent.
Sure, you can use Google's Section Ad Targeting. Read their own blog on how to do it. It's pretty easy, basically just adding a small snippet of code around a certain part of your site with the keywords you want the Adsense bot to read: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/01/stay-on-target.html
thanks Jack, but the problem is that there is very little content besides.... How do I calculate the pH of a ....... And the categories are all organic, general chemistry..... There is no where i talk about tutoring or if i do it says chemistry tutoring which brings up chemistry tutoring sites......i would hope to get math tutoring sites and others that may supplement what they get from me.
Create a simple box on the side (or a line of text somewhere) and fill it with keyword text, then section target it.
Perhaps Google has no inventory of tutoring-related ads. Try going to the Google site and searching on "xxxx tutoring" or whatever variety of tutoring you want, and see if there are related and relevant Adwords ads that appear on the right side of the results page. If not, Google has no inventory of such ads to display on your site.
