I guess finally the lebanese are getting sick and tired of this . I dont know who is supporting this new group in lebanon, but im guessing many of the volunteers might be sick and tired of having their countries policy being dictated by iran.
Could civil war be on the horizon in lebanon?:(

Arab Islamic Council Secretary-General in Lebanon Sayyed Mohammed al-Husseini announced the launch of the Arab Islamic Resistance, a group rival of Hizbullah, aimed at confronting the enemies of Arabism.
Husseini, in an interview with al-Arabiya television network, said the group includes more than 3,000 "Mujahid from various military and development fields as well as the civil defense."

Husseini said more than 1,500 men have requested membership in the group since the door for volunteering was opened.
He said the new resistance group "has number and equipment that would please both the friend and the brother and frighten the enemy."
Husseini vowed a "lot of surprises," particularly on the subject of weapons, uncovering what he called "Arabism rocket" which is made by the resistance. He described the invention as "distinct."
Al-Arabiya said the establishment of the group came in a statement released by the Arab Islamic Council on Wednesday The statement said the group will be the "spearhead and in the frontlines to confront the enemies of Arabism … asserting that our resistance existed to defend the Arab world."(Photo courtesy of al-Arabiya

If they want to defend Lebanon they should just join their army, not form another organization that might become terrorist...

Notice they said the enemies of arabism and not the enemies of islam and notice how hesbolla is aligned with iran and iran isnt arabic.
This could range from enemies of israel to enemies of iran. I think they were formed primary as an answer to the growing opposition of hezbolla in lebanon and the reason why they wont join the lebanese army is probably because the army is because syria has given its blessings to the new prim minister of lebanon and the new army chief, plus hezbolla forced its way into the lebanese government. They are saying if hezbolla has the right to hold arms and call itself a resistance group then they could also. The pandoras box has been opened. As far as who funds these guys, no one knows right now as they have just announced their formation.

These guys are primary sunni muslim and hezbolla is shiit, but they welcome anyone from any religion to join them, so theoretically they have the potential to grow even larger then hezbolla because of this.

What im curious about is what the heck is an arabism rocket and what kind of new technology is it really?
If civil war explodes in lebanon again, the whole region will sink into chaos.

Iran does however support Arab causes.

No offense to anyone but I think it's just some piece of crap. You've never seen a terrorist / resistance group develop "new amazing technology", especially if they just started. They mostly buy weapons from different countries and have no real infrastructure to develop anything.

Iran does support SOME arab causes as long as they help the iranian cause but they dont really care for the pan arab causes of the bathist and so forth.
As far as technology , you never know dude. Like i mentioned before lebanon has so many people walking around with masters degrees that cant find any work in that country. If they were tempted to work for a cause that they believed in and was funded by , lets say, saudi arabia, anything is possible. Remember the french education system is one of the top in the world.

I'm impressed by your continual comments about Lebanon. Living in the states I know lots of Lebanese immigrants to the States, some have been great friends, others friends/business associates.

The long term problems of Lebanon have been so sad driving so many people out of the country. I remarked elsewhere in this forum about an incident from years ago that stuck in my memory. Two emigrants from Lebanon met while I was with one of them a great friend. After hearing one another for an instant they started speaking Arabic they recognized one another's accents.

Both were from Beirut. Both had left because of the Civil War. One was Muslim, one was Christian. My friend described how they acknowledged they probably shot at one another and one another's family's while being in the Civil War. Both were extremely happy to be out of the War region and living in peace. They were very friendly. There is more to the story.

In a strange way, Lebanon and some other nations that have ruined central governments make me think of the danger of Ron Paul on the extreme. Weaken the govt to an extent that it opens the door for problems and a nation gets destroyed. But that is another story.

The folks I know hate the current status of Lebanon. Hezbollah is incredibly strong....sort of a counter government and counter military to the existing govt/military. Iran and Syria have deep influence. All of the beauty of Beirut, the mountain areas, etc...its all fragile subject to further war(s). Abu Dhabbi and the emirates have and are displacing Beirut in so many ways.

You guys above can discuss pan Arabism and Iran's place but on top of its partial support and partial disputes, Iran's perspective is its own...its perspective is not that of Lebanon.

History has suggested that all changes in the middle east seem to come by the sword. I read the news source you cited. If changes occur it will probably come with more violence.

    At least my $0.02
