Does anyone use online tools to do things like dns lookup, reverse dns lookup, etc... Or do you all start a shell and do it the old fashion way when you need the info?

For designing I use Photoshop CS3 (don't like CS4 because it displays images in an "odd" way I think), and to fill the sections with text I use lipsum.com (for Lorem Ipsum - however, I think there's actually a built-in function in Photoshop to do that).

For programming, I use Ultra-Edit text editor. And then jQuery for the most javascript parts.

And then... Most important : My brain! :)

    Hi Guys,

Which site do you think has the best Lorem Ipsum generator? Which one do you use?

    Cheers,
    JB

How many paragraph you want, how many words, how many characters, do you want list or do you have to do them by end, etc... That's what I'm talking about.

I copy the Lorem Ipsum paragraph from Wikipedia and just repeat it. Large chunks of text can say gobbledygook.

The pages I write are actually usually with longer words, because they are in Dutch.

Funny, I just use and example of the content that's going to be on the page...

But then as I keep saying, how the **** do you design a site without using an actual content sample - sounds half-assed to me.

"Templates" - amazing how something simple has been turned into half assed asshattery by people who think photoshop should be used to design a website.

You just walk away from those we ask you to make a design but have no content. I can't really, though I do repeat myself here at work (you should have heard me when doing the site for the stupid security camera, there was zero content at all!! There still isn't any!! And what there was is still in English!!)

I've used Lorem Ipsum for our fire dept site, mostly because yes there's content but the design (the boxes) needed to be done before the content could go in there, as the current content is one huge pile, not sifted or categorised. Now that there's a design (html and css anyway) hubby's building the backend and can start adding real content (such as a feed of the most recent calls)-- the styling for that box was done with a fake lorem ipsum list and now there's a real list in there. We weren't sure how we were going to set up the navigation, but we knew each page would have the same nav bar so there was dummy text until we had it sorted out.

I currently have "text text text text" in some help text on a form because the boss said he wanted "uitleg" (explanation) for new questions but I dunno what the hell uitleg he wants in there. So it'll look really ugly (to grab his attention) until he gives me the actual text.
