best shopping cart to use

    Hi everyone

I am rebuilding one of my websites, and need some advice on which shopping cart is the best. I take payments with Google Checkout, PayPal and credit/debit cards (using PayPal merchant account to process in the background).

I have used romancart in the past, but didn't like customers being taken off-site (i know it can be customised etc but i wasn't a fan).

I have been using Fat Free Cart which is very good - but doesn't (I don't think - please correct me if I'm wrong) have new functionality I am looking for

I am looking for a shopping cart that can be used to sell both digital and tangible products. I am looking for a cart that will recommend complimentary products based on the item added to the cart. I need a cart that will show a short description of the items it is suggesting, and images.

I like the fat free cart because it brings up a pop up box instead of going to a new page.

The only other thing I don't like about fat free cart is that if the customer is paying by credit card it takes them off-site to a non brand able page.

If anyone know of a cart that fills all my requirements, and has any recommendations please let me know.

    Cheers

    Jordan

try Volusion. most of my clients use this shopping cart. this is one of the most popular shopping carts around. it's a little pricey but it's really good with tons of features.

I have to agree. All 3 of the sites I handle are on Volusion and I am quite happy with the company and the product. Intuitive, easy to use, SEO features....Price can be high depending on how many products you are selling but they are still competitive with other providers.

I would recommend OSCommerce. There is a module for any bell or whistle you can think of.

I'd recommend some paid solution since they generally have much better techsupport and faster development along with bug fixes. X-Cart, for example, might be close to all of your requirements. Check out their new version, it's really great in terms of features!

It depends how you process card payments, are you happy with using protx? then use Magento, but if you have an in-house machine for processing cards, then you won't be able to use Magento, rather use Zen Cart.

Magento is the best in my opinion. In terms of style and usuability, it definately beats OSCommerce.
