Anything is possible, but within in a year? Highly unlikely. The search engine that dominates will be the one that adapts. So far Google has adapted quite nicely.

May be Cuil should focuss on Semantic search to get some attention and market share in future.

I've tested cuil to search for my websites (at least company name) and I only got bs. It even gave alternate suggestions that ranked higher then my exact term (winch was a company name - actually 2 - didn't test with my website only). I can honestly say that in terms of quality of results it's a total fiasco. It's no way that you can find what you are looking for with it.

Google has a huge head start which no other search engine will be able to take over the lead. Even microsoft will all its billions of dollars in its war chest is not able to compete against it, so it is just impossible for any other search engine, no matter how good its feature is, can topple Google.

Cuil will be in the same place it is now in 1 year imo. THe searches are less then useless and as stated before, Microsoft notepad has a better search ability than Cuil.

The only thing Cuil is useful for is when you don't know what you want to look at , then it's just like a giant stumbleupon.

Unless they have a massive advertising campain around the world they are not going to dominate.

No, Cuil gets culled. It's no where near Google, Got a long way to go before you can even compare it with Google.

Even Microsoft, with their talent and tens of billions of dollars can't touch Google, and hardly anyone has heard of Cuil. Its like an ant trying to kill an elephant - impossible.

I had never heard of Cuil until now and i doubt the majority of internet users have. It's not even any good so why would it 'kill' google?

There is initial excitement, with the founders generating some publicity as ex Google staff, but it seemed to have died down and frankly I seldom even heard of people mentioning Cuil, I won't write it off just yet. It may be fine tuning its search engine, but they still have a long long way to go.

I doubt Cuil is going to make an impact, I have tried their search feature and it is really lousy IMHO.

10 years ago you would have said the same about Microsoft and 20 years ago about IBM.

I think cuil is hard to kill Google. Google is too big and Cuil seems nothing special.
I am not sure what's the special weapon Cuil has now?
