Apologies for the title, but trying to fit in everything im asking about.

    Ok here goes

If you are promoting as an affiliate, using adwords, would you try as best to use the same color on your landing page as the color of the merchants site?

    Or

Would you take into account color psychology and how color can alter people moods, and choose a color common for working or being popular within a certain type of business? Even though it may not match the site of the merchant.

And say if your landing page will have a form in place and they can obviously complete it from your landing page, will you still concern yourself about the color/s used on your landing page or is it less of a concern for you then?

I think at the pace at which people surf pages these days, they wouldn't have enough time to make a sub-concious psychological decision. I think blending it into your landing page is a better option as it keeps everything more professional and surfer friendly.

    Which were you swaying towards?

Make it blend into your landing page. Make it become a part of the content. People always avoid the ads and only click on the useful stuff. So if it blend into your landing page, you'll get more click.

sub-concious decisions can actually be made in a very short space of time - we're talking tenths of a second here...

I agree that it should be the same colour...

I would start with colors similar to that of the original site.

Then test your results to see if you are happy with your conversions.

If you still feel like there is room for improvement, create multiple landing pages and split test them.

Let the results be your guide.

Well ive found myself going for a color close the the merchants color and also the color is closely associated with business if there is truth in the belief of colors influencing.

Well as it will be a form il make it blend as much as possible.
