I need to make at least $175-$200/day to live off of and I want to do Internet Marketing full time from home. I'm basically starting with no established web sites here. For the past month, I've been reading up on PPC and getting my feet wet doing some affiliate marketing, making a little money in the process. I've also been building a blog so I can start putting affiliate ads and Adsense on that. I heard that PPC is the fastest way to make money so I'm concentrating at least 75% of my time to doing that so I can get to my daily goal as fast as possible. However, it almost seems safer to purchase a turn-key site just so I can cover rent/bills/etc and then having that stability...start to build my blogs and ease into PPC. I'm good at HTML/CSS. My PPC/SEO skills are beginner/intermediate at best right now. I have the money to purchase sites making $200/day (which is what I need to live off of) but I'm wondering if this is safer than putting that money into PPC. What route would you all take if you were in my shoes?
If I were in your shoes, I'd buy a site that already has a (provable) track record. For a newb trying to do it on their own is extremely difficult. Buying a site you'll see how someone else has done it and what they are doing to make consistent money. Learn from that and once you're confident you can do other projects of your own. That would be my advice.
That is a great point. I'd by a site making a few hundred a day and learn how it makes it's money, not just simply adsense, why they are possitioned etc and find out what can be added etc. Then with the money the site makes spend it on a smaller site with good niche but low traffic, then use the same techniques to increase revenue on that one. Then you can either sell it, called flipping, or keep the revenu and repeat the process when you are making 2 lots of income.
I think you are about to lose a great deal of money with the approach you are contemplating. Either way things work out you'll come out wiser.
Buying a site that is making $200 daily will cost a bomb as this is equivalent to $6,000 per month, so seller is likely to ask for at least 6 mths income or $36,000 and this a lot of money to risk when cannot guarantee the site will continue to make $200 daily. how sure are oyu that it will not drop to $50 daily after 2 mths or even $10 daily ? So try something smaller say sites making $500/mth, so if the site dun perform as well after U bought, at least U lost just a few thousand. I know U said U need to make $200 daily but U cannot rush into something that u have no experience of and thereby losing tens of thousands of $.
I didn't work it out at first but now you've explained the cost it is too much of a risk to suggest buying a site like that.
Take a real simple approach, either start a blog with Adsense or start with $1k in a ppc account and find a decent affiliate offer and see if you can turn a profit. If you can turn a blog into $50 a month in the 1st month that's quite decent for no experience. If you can turn 1k in PPC funds into any profit you've just became quite good in PPC overnight. Focus on one thing and see how it goes, no need to waste tens of thousands of dollars trying something you're not an expert at yet. Good luck!
At least 6 monthes ? So for only $36k ? I would be fool to sell such site for only $36k, and buying business which brings $200/day for $36k is not risk at all, it's gem lol. Well, to be true it's risk, cause if it's only $36k it's way too low and probably scum Such will cost around $60k-$70k AT LEAST. Even maybe $100k+ in some cases. I see that you want to buy such things for peanuts, but keep dreaming, hehe OP, go for PPC, only after you will have 2-3 years of experience and money making, only then buy sites. Buyers can spot your newb mode and sell shit to you.
yea i would advise against buying a site, I'd learn the ropes from the ground up. That way you learn how to build a site to that level, AND maintain it. What if you mess up the 200/day site and don't have the knowledge to fix it and it just dies, and your now in the negative
That is very true. Another thing is with the knowledge you will gain you can make lots of sites with the money you'd use to buy a $200/day site and earn lots more, if you make 5 sites at $50 each that's $250 a day, you then get them each making the $200 a day you want and make $1k a day. This means you make $1k a day from $250 wheres as you would have been spending thousands of dollars. Now i'm not saying this is gonig to be easy, nowhere near but it's obviously not impossible.
You need three qualities to earn money quckly... 1) You need money (start up capital) 2) You need to have an idea of what your doing 3) You need balls of steel It also helps if your alittle crazy too
Wow...some really great comments from everyone. After reading all of these opinions, I think I'm holding off on the big purchase. I don't want to blow $30,000 on a site that makes $100/day if I'm not completely sure of how to keep the income steady. Think I'll go the PPC route while building out a couple of blogs and spend more time learning SEO before any big purchases.
Some of you guys have great points here. I've never bought a site but I would imagine, correct me if I'm wrong , if I were to buy one that I would be responsible for getting traffic to the site. So it's all well and good if a site I bought had a high natural listing in SEO already but even then Shadowplay won't actually learn anything. Correct? If the guy you are buying the website of is using PPC for traffic you probably aren't going to get his account. If he does article marketing you aren't going to get access to his account. The only thing you could gain is knowledge as to were the traffic is coming from via a statistics package if one is already installed. You could just look at those sites that are already making $200/day without buying it and just figuring out how each page is optimised, how it's receiving its traffic and how popular that niche is. Again if I'm wrong and they do hand over their PPC and other traffic information when seelling a site please let me know
