Here is my question. Do the outgoing links from our signature in this forum have any real google power? Do any of you have any data or experiments to prove it one way or another. I'm right now conducting an experiment on this topic. One of the outgoing links in my signature is to a page that is languishing in the supplementary index of google. Will, the power of the link that I've just added, be enough to upgrade that page to the main index. The page has original content, two internal links, but is one of about ten of mine (that I've identified) that have been put in supplementary. I'm also testing others by: - creating totally original content to one - adding links from my blog to another - adding several internal links to a third etc etc I'd be interested in hearing from anybody else that has real data on such questions. And I'll share my findings on the impact of this forum in two weeks.
I'm testing it too. Writing on this forum learning some new stuff + testing. I saw that Google registers as backlinks some of the signature links from this site (saw that on some other member sites). Although I don't know if that made any change to their PR.
Even if you don't get google serp value, you still get traffic, i monitor my referrals from DP and for certain types of sites the traffic isn't bad..
There would be *some* value for sure, same matters about most forums (by default Vbulletin does not nofollow the links in signatures). But most likely the SE love is no much, especially in Google.
I think DP has proved to have some SEO value for signatures as it has been proved many of times with sites being indexed just from a signature link on DP. As for the strength compared to sites such as digg and other big social networking sites i don't know.
Seo value of signature links probably isn't that high, but you do get traffic from it. I'm actually running a little test as well. I've purchased 20 siggy links from various high profile people as well as begged friends to add this special link as well. Next months I'll see if it helped the seo side, but I'm doubting it.
I'm sure there is some value from these backlinks, maybe even for PR too but I can just guess. I'm really interested in the results of this testing, good luck
I see links on sig here is not or not much passing PR value but sigs here is a big help to index that site. Google loves new and fresh contents which this forum has plus it is highly indexed so our links here get some help to be indexed faster too.
I use the signature links to point the google crawler to some deep level pages of my site that have not been indexed yet. Usualy the get indexed one day after I place the link.
It will make your site crawl and index faster in google... Also, it'll bring you some decent amount of traffic.
