    Hey guys,

I've started to dabble with the world of video editing and making slideshows with Windows Moviemaker. I tinkered with it last night for a couple hours without much progress. I can see that putting photos in a sequences with music is pretty straightforward but I'd like to do a few more complicated things and after scrolling quickley through the help files I'm not sure if Moviemaker will let me.

I found that editing videos to pull out a clip was pretty cumbersome and hard to get it accurate. Not sure if I'm doing things right so if anyone can point me to a good tutorial that would be great.

Plus I've got a video (about 3 minutes long) and I would like to use the full 3 minutes worth of audio that is on the video but I would like the picture to cut back and forth between the video and photos. Is this possible?

Can anyone suggest a free or cheap video editing program that makes taking clips out of videos easy and that I will be able to do what I want with my 3 minute video with?

Also a good website for starting out with all this stuff would be handy too.

    Thanks!!
    Kirsty

Every program has strengths and weeknesses. Sometimes it is even best to use two programs to accomplish something the most effective and time efficient way possible. Video editing is the least developed feature of Blaze Media Pro. What I mean by that is that all other features are very advanced (but still easy to use), but the video editing features are more basic. That being said, Blaze Media Pro is very good for cutting out parts, adding sound, etc., which sounds like the part Movie Maker is not doing very well for you. Check it out if you want.

    If you're using Apple;)

I believe Windows Movie Maker will do that job, just need a little imagination and patient.

as an alternative - PresentaVid is now 50% off, so its 99.95$ + educational discount. it will be something like 76$

so ok, its simple video editor (32-bit), there are allmost all basic features like cutting frames, adding the sound, adding watermarks, callouts, text and the main feature of publishing in almost EVERY FORMAT!! (including animated gif! )

    thats it.
