$30 - Simple Logo - 3 day contest + poss. more work available

Hi all,

I need a very simple logo for a new website I will shortly be designing. The website will be about the Korean phenomenon of Fan Death. Fan Death is the belief that having an electric fan running in an enclosed room whilst you sleep can kill you. Have a look at the linked wikipedia page for more background info.

What I am after is a simple, bold Web 2.0 logo incorporating the words 'Fan Death' in a clean font with an appropriate pictorial logo beside/around it (most likely an electric fan, or fan blades). You may or may not want to try to make the fan to look a bit evil... but don't go overboard (i.e. no dripping blood or anything )

Underneath the words 'Fan Death' I would like the Korean words for the phenomenon added. They are as follows (I hope they come out correctly): 선풍기 사망 사고

There is the possibility of further jobs for the designer of the chosen logo, as I may look into adding a line of merchandise on the website for which derivative logos will need to be designed.

Hi there! Here's my try. Feedback is much appreciated.

 

Zyndtel - that's an excellent first entry to set the standard. Very clean, bold and simple - although it perhaps reminds me a little too much of a corporate logo at the moment - maybe it's the colours. Could you try changing the blue to red? Might make the fan look a bit "meaner". After all, these fans kill (according to Koreans, at least!)

Watari - that is also an excellent design. I particularly like the font you have chosen for the Korean script - very traditional, which contrasts well with the modern logo. Although when I first look at the logo, I tend to think "aeroplane propeller" rather than fan.

Exnie - thanks for the entry. I like the curvature of the fan blades, it helps make it instantly recognisable as a fan. The skull is an interesting touch I hadn't considered. I think a few colours would enhance its effect.

StealthGFX - the fan logo is very creative, I like how it reflects the movement and flow of a fan turning. I think I would prefer a design with a cleaner, fuller font on a white background - I am not sure about the blue and orange.

This is going to be a lot tougher than I thought! Thanks for all the great designs so far, there is really some talent about.

Pinky: that's a very striking logo, but I think I am after something a bit more literal - something that can be instantly recognisable as a fan. Thanks for the entry!

Many thanks for all your high quality entries -- you have me sold on the "Contests" section of DP now, I will be coming back here often for new logos, and I do hope you'll all take part in the contests! It was really tough to come to a decision, but I have finally decided to go with Exnie's warning sign fan design (see below), for the following reasons:

- It's simple, clean and bold
- It gets across the humourous concept that these fans are a danger (according to Koreans!)
- It's brandable
