SEO for Social Media Sites

We've just launched a social media site for travel - www.tripshows.net

We're doing all the standard SEO stuff. Anything special for a social media site?

As your site is for travel ,

First and far most thing is to submit your site in all travel directories. Then try to find travel forums and start posting useful posts.
Relevant links will help you in both traffic and ranking.

 

I have not tried any travel directories (i will now, thanks).

The few travel forums have gotten very angry and some have booted me off.

What did you think of the site?

 

first you need some content. you site doesnt have any content and all the links pointing to affiliate site. you can have affiliate links on your site and there is nothing wrong with that but if affiliate link is all you have, then the site will not go very far. travel directories will not accept your site either. so my suggestion would be focusing on content first

 

how to get some content? all content is added by user. so first try to get more user or visitor?

 

that would be right if you have a social media site. however, the site in question here doesnt seem to have any option for anyone to sign up or share anything.

 

the main page at www.tripshows.net is only a landing page. There is a link that takes you to the actual site. There you can join, post etc.

I wonder how many others are having that problem.

Just have some content on your home page relating to your site and features it contains.
Display a sign up page ,where users can post their profiles
Display the members who have signed up.
Place a comments page ,where users can comment on your page.
As per SEO point of view work on on-page and off-page factors
this list will never end now ,so you have a lot of work to be done.......
I just suggest to hire an expert who can do this for you.
