are you suggesting that it is lower in the liberal states and higher in the conservative ones? wait a minute. there MUST be something wrong of course. satan scrambled the numbers.
Looks like a Bible Belt correlation... Might have something to do with the false notion that not talking about sex will prevent teens from having sex?
I couldn't find the wealth chart but I've applied the trailer park overlay which is also correlative.
For me it was the way I was brought up and my religion that keeps me waiting till marriage. Stas dont mean diddly because anyone can say that they follow their faith. Its all words. In the end it comes down to knowledge, faith, family upbringing and common sense. You can also look at the breakdown of the family unit as the reason why we have an over 65% divorce rate cant you, but then again if you wanna bash religion you wont touch that stat will ya, and if you wanna look at the percentage of breakups when comparing christians to atheists then its no contest at all. nuff said Why dont you go and look at the teen birth rates of a chirstian country where the faith is properly valued and sex is truely held sacrad. The fact is in America its sad to say the chirstians are acting like atheists these days.
I just did a google on atheist divorces vs christian divorces and all the results I've looked at so far show that atheists have lower rates of divorce. Like this one: Religion % have been divorced Jews 30% Born-again Christians 27% Other Christians 24% Atheists, Agnostics 21% http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm Or this one: 11% of all American adults are divorced 25% of all American adults have had at least one divorce 27% of born-again Christians have had at least one divorce 24% of all non-born-again Christians have been divorced 21% of atheists have been divorced 21% of Catholics and Lutherans have been divorced 24% of Mormons have been divorced 25% of mainstream Protestants have been divorced 29% of Baptists have been divorced 24% of nondenominational, independent Protestants have been divorced 27% of people in the South and Midwest have been divorced 26% of people in the West have been divorced 19% of people in the Northwest and Northeast have been divorced http://atheism.about.com/od/atheistfamiliesmarriage/a/AtheistsDivorce.htm But maybe atheists are just better at SEO?
pingpong, i think you'd be better off if you start accepting reality and try to explain why there is a direct correlation between religiosity and a lower IQ, increased chance of teenage pregnancy and a higher divorce rate. Perhaps then you wont get your ass handed to you on a plate so often. It's obvious that you wont do the research, But it's unwise to assume nobody else will and think you can get away with just making shit up.
You'll find a lot of african americans in that part that account for a good amount of the teen pregnancy. If you look at the rate of teenage pregnancy for african american girls and compare it to white girls, the rate is almost doubled. But these rates are dropping.
The Bible forbids not merely teenage pregnancy but prenuptial sex and childbirth out of wedlock. And all these prohibitions are well entrenched in the Christian family where the fear of God is so pure and quality Christian life and education is held so dearly by every member of the family. Everything that we do and all the tenets that we hold on to are strongly founded on the Bible.
I personally wouldn't say there is anything wrong with that, but having first hand experience of the Bible Belt I can say there is a peculiar form of censorship that goes on where things that are not seen are considered to not exist for people. Where the birds and bees talk consists of "don't do it or you are going to hell" and that's it. You get a lot of pregnant girls with that amount of sexual education. These same parents of course don't want their children getting Sex Ed in schools either. Something else that no one has mentioned is that these areas have suffered economically since post civil war.
We are talking here of real life teenage pregnancies/childbirth; those things don't fit well in anyone's fantasy for, in the first place, to fantasize is to dream only sweet fun and instant satisfaction, but pregnancy and childbirth in fantasia? The point is, incidents of unwanted (not just teenage) pregnancies and childbirth are relatively higher in non-believers of the Holy Bible than among the faithful who abide in the Word.
Again most the number of breakups is very deceptive and if you look at the true number here as we truely breakdown the results the numbers are alarming. As we know most atheists live together before they marry and dont even need to marry. They allready consider this a marriage and if you add the true numbers you get an alarming 82% breakup rate with athiests than with christians (as we all know living togethe rbefore marriage is a huge NO-NO for christians so anyone who considers themselves a true christian wont live together before marriage). I dont know about you guys but it seems like the athiestic relationship has an 82% failure rate. Like i said before alot of these athiest sites are great with playing with numbers to make people of all religions look bad and to make us think that religion is the failure behind divorces but they are the last people to judge others as they have the worst success rates of all when it comes to relaytionships. All it took was a little research to show the truth, the truth that most athiests wont admit to. ill take a 27% rate over an 82% rate anyday . Good try guys, just keep believing the stuff your trying to spread on this thread, but it isnt GOSPEL TRUTH. IAM!!!!!!!!!!!! 2. Atheists tend to cohabit in large numbers. According to Barna, " Forty-two percent of adults who associate with a faith other than Christianity had co-habited,while atheists were the most likely to do so (51%).[4] It is critical to stress that it is a well known fact that cohabiters experience a very high number of "breakups" before getting married. "Millions of people ... believe that cohabitation is a prelude to marriage. And for many, it is. However, Smock reports that 45% of cohabitations break up with no marriage. Another 10% continue cohabiting."[5] Barna did not include this enlightening fact in his research. Thus, if 21% of atheists divorce after marriage, and 45 % break up once or more before marriage, what we have is the astounding rate of about 66% of atheist couples experiencing "at least" one break up. If, however, the number is 37%, then we have a shocking figure of 82%. How is that for success in relationships? What needs mentioning is the fact that many atheists do not cohabit as a prelude to marriage. They in fact see cohabitation as "equivalent" to any marriage relationship. Therefore, their cohabitation break ups are to be seen as the end of what was to be a committed relationship. These break ups were not included in the Barna research, thus giving an incomplete picture of the true state of relationships among atheist couples. It should also be stressed that, unlike what atheist propagandists preach on the Internet, it is a well established fact that people who live common law before marriage have a greater, not lesser chance of divorce than couples who don't live common law. Thus, given the fact that atheists' cohabitations rates are 51%, it is quite possible that their divorce rates are actually higher than the 37% mentioned by Barna.
I love how you talk about playing with numbers, but here you are trying to make the case that if an atheist moves in with someone that this constitutes as marriage. Jeez what a hypocritical and outrageous stance; do you even believe the stuff you spout off?
Good point.. Oh wait, No it's not, it's just shit copy and pasted from a tripod site. it's odd how stats detailing the separation rates of all groups suddenly only contain atheists when you want to fabricate this 82%. You know christians are also included in that, right? Do numbers confuse you pong, Or was your attempted deceit deliberate? (how so very "christian") The fact is, Christians aren't 30% more likely to get married, But are 30% more likely to get divorced. Which doesn't really demonstrate this high and mighty morality and family cohesion which you claim is true of christians. Do atheists get divorced? of course they do. But what they don't do is go swanning round trying to convince people they are the epitome of family and morality. By the way, Out of interest.. how old are you and are you still a virgin? I understand if you feel uncomfortable answering this and don't mind if you decline, But i think we all want to know.
pingpong, that's probably the most dishonest post I've seen in all my time in P&R. And putting the manipulation of the criteria in order to skew the result and render favorable stats aside, having multiple breakups before marriage in most cases is probably a good thing. People are supposed to play the field before they get married and going as far as living together can expose the true compatibility and willingness between two people to get married. Actually multiple breakups before marriage is probably one of the more significant factors that goes into atheists having lower divorce rates.(if your stats are even true) Experience leads to better decision making.
