Couldn't find any threads relating to this question - please reference them if you know they exist... Does Google like article sites? It seems it does as many article sites are page one in searches across a huge array of keywords. I don't really understand ranking - is it to do with algor-whatsit? In theory could Google re-rank these articles? Do Google like article writers? I think they should because they write articles that attract huge amounts of traffic and make excellent venues for google ads but is there a reason I haven't figured why Google should dislike article writers? Google can be a little...complex, I'd appreciate DP comments
I think an article site isn't necessarily distinguished from the rest, unless you're syndicating existing articles. If you're writing fresh new content and following general SEO methodologies (unique keyphrase per page, internal linking structure, fresh, original, frequently updated content, centralized website theme, etc.) you should be able to do fine. Content is still king.
i think google loves article sites for sure - why else do so many rank on the 1st page for so many key phrases! article marketing remains (for me) the number 1 way of driving targetted traffic to my sites
Google does not give any special treatment to article sites. And Google does not care about article writer. What it cares about is contents and inbound links to those contents.
Article writers have an upper hand because we can push out unique, high quality content, and keep our sites fresh. It's the content google likes, but it is us writers who create it best.
article directories rank high in google because they have tons and tons of unique content + it gets updated alot of times per day
to get better results and to avoid duplicate content penalty, its wise to use unique articles on the top article sites. if you do mass submissions, then you should atleast spin the articles
There is no duplicate content penalty, it is just automatic filtering (which will be automatically removed when you update your site with unique content). Anyway, if your site has unique content (no copy paste or syndicated content from other sites) then Google will be your friend, no matter if it is an article site, a blog or just some static HTML pages.
Articles are targeted to specific keywords and they provide high-quality unique content. So, search engines like them. And article directories are a source of a lot of such articles. So, search engines rank them well.
Will article writers be penalised by google for publishing their articles a few times with different titles? In what circumstances would they ban an article writer. Thanks for the comments so far.
article writer can be an individual and not a site itself so there is no way for google to penalize an article writer. its the content they are after and the site where the links point to. there could be lot of john doe submitting articles and if google is to penalize a writer by name, then all john doe will be penalized which doesnt make sense. besides, articles submitted with a resource box and often, one person may write the article and the resource box may have author onfo of the person who paid for the article/submission
