As you are saying you have added 100 internal link building then

-First make sure all links are working fine.
-Update your site map and if you don't have site map please add it and submit.

-Have you optimized your all link with title tag ? if not then please add your main and relative keywords in title tag of all links. that will increase keyword density of your site.

-Yes for getting same position you may have to wait for few days.

-so mean while you can do one thing start social bookmarking of your website.that will help you to gain you positions soon.

Maybe your competitors used dirty tricks and reported your site for violating the TOS of Google. This is quit a realistic possibility and a very nasty black hat trick that gets used a lot.

I don't think it has to with directing all of your Google juice to your internal pages. This seems to be happening to many webmasters. I am thinking that it is one of 2 things that could of happened:

    1. google is in the middle of a major update and everything will come back
    2. one of your competitors submitted your site as violating the TOS.

Question: Do you buy a lot of links? If so, are the site-wide links?

I think your lessons are probably quite accurate.

While I don't know what may have triggered it, I think your home page has lost *trust*. In time, I think that reduced trust will filter to your other pages and that they are next to suffer. This is of course, pure speculation on my part.

I think that whatever changes you made were interpreted as an attempt at SEO which resulted in G not trusting your site as much.

So, if my guess happens to be correct, you would want to do things to regain trust. That means no SEO type changes for a while (putting it back could be further evidence that you are optimizing) and focusing on getting a link or 2 from very trusted sites. Then wait it out.

These large drops in traffic are classic examples of Google's algorithms adjusting to black hat techniques. If you're using natural SEO methods - writing unique, targeted content, with unique identities (keyphrases) for each of your pages, updating content regularly, using a solid internal linking structure (and not overlinking), and building a community around your website you should be able to maintain a consistent ranking and search traffic.

Radical changes to content, links, website structure, etc. is never a good idea. You want not only your content to be presented naturally (ie. no keyword stuffing, etc.), but your content changes as well.

No don't take those 75 links away. Google is adjusting to your new links. You have made the problem a whole lot worse now.

same thing has happened to me for one of my sites. was number one for over a year and a few days ago it dropped put of the index, but not banned and pr still the same.

have been doing link building but so have all the other sites i'm competing with. have been using the same link building strategies on other sites and they have not been penalized.

from experience this happens periodically, especially when google shits the bed and dumps a bunch of bad results - which i may think has happened, as some of the new results are garbage (the second site in the serp i was number one for is now a sitr with just a holding page). usually site will return in 3-5 days.

looks like it's happening to many others too.

Here's the current situation with my site:

    1) For the last 6 months, I've been ranking on the 1st page for about 10 targeted keywords in my local niche

    2) About 1 week ago, I added 70 Internal links that were on another page, onto the homepage

    3) A few days ago, for 9 out of 10 of the keywords my rankings for my homepage disappeared............ however, my subpages are ranking on the #4th and #5th pages for the same keywords... which wont get me any traffic

    4) When I search my company name, my homepage comes up #1

No reciprocal links, no crap like that..... obviously my site isnt banned.....

    My guess is either:

    A) I passed Google Juice from my homepage onto my subpages

    B) I got an automatic penalty for just my homepage for putting tons of links on 1 page (which Im not sure if this is true because I rank #1 for my company name, and 1st page for 1 out of 10 targeted keywords)

    C) I screwed up the keyword density by adding all of those links

I dont think its Google's Algo... because 14 out of 14 of my competitors are still on the SERPs..... and my subpages are ranking for keywords my homepage was ranking for............... EXCEPT theyre ranking on the #4th page.......... and my homepage isnt anywhere to be found

And that is exactly what having lost trust would look like. It is keyword based.

If you made changes and want Google to find out about it fast do a little soial bookmarking. If it was me I would create an account with OnlyWire.com and the 16 sites it submits to (technorati, delicious, furl, blinkist, etc.). Of the 16 sites, you can bet Google will crawl one of them within an hour or less, find your link, and recrawl you.

It isn't going to hurt to try. After all, I can do that with any site I like by clicking the OnlyWire button on my toolbar and writing a sentence about it. Google isn't going to penalize a site just because I bookmarked it. That would be crazy. If that worked I'd bookmark the hell out of my competitors!

    Good luck,
    Dave
