I guess it depends on the site but for any site with frequently update content I definitely would. I use for my garden site. There are all kinds of templates out there which look nothing like a tradtional blog.

Depends on the scope of your web site. WordPress is very flexible for content management but there are limitations for certain functions. I suggest you to first identify the scope of your site and decide whether wordpress is the best solution to cover it.

WordPress is so good I do not see any major negatives that would stop one from using it.

Yes lots of people use it as a platform for websites. Plus google loves it, most of my blogs get re-indexed in under 10min when i add new content.

Its up to u joomla, drupal are best portal cms but wp is also good for seo point of view.
Build a blog and later on, u can give blog a website look. (when u will be an expert)

    Some plus points of WP:

    Easy to learn
    easy to manage
    clean interface n navigation
    No coding experience required.
You can play with plugins, widgets n themes.

WHAT??? Not recommended. Wordpress is the only thing to use. If you've been building website for any length of time, yuo know wordpress sites get indexed in hours and days....not months or years. Have you been sleeping under a rock?

    Use wordpress.

Joomla is good too but my first site I built with it got hacked and I've never liked it since. I still vote for wordpress. It has the biggest following and lots of developers that write code for it.

I have a plugin that will be finished soon that will place any of your ads right in the center of the page and wrap text all the way around it. I tested this layout and the CTR was out of this world.

Wordpress is perfect for content sites and SEO. It has a lot of functionality for other dynamic sites as well, although I would think twice before using it for other than content site or blog.

I strongly recommend you to use WordPress as the backend of your site. There are many templates that you can modify to suit your needs.

Good example of why I never recommend Joomla for anything.

To answer the question, Yes, wordpress is a good, solid, stable and secure solution.

If you are making one huge site that you want to be able to edit fully then I would suggest otherwise but just about for everything else I would recommend it. You can create multiple sites so much faster than any html editor and your updates can be made anywhere with an internet connection (no software required) I kind of feel cheated since all these nobbz dont have to go through the dreaded days of typing raw code.....haha

I would recommend it for blogs and blog-looking websites, but not for actual websites that must have a corporate look or whatever.

If you're planning on growing a site into a high traffic portal or community then I would recommend Drupal, but otherwise Wordpress is what I suggest most often. I've built several client business based sites with it and it runs great.

As others have said it's excellent for managing content, search optimization, and templates can be setup to fit any 'brand' style.

Here are a few custom Wordpress sites I did in the past (please note that I no longer provide design services) that break the traditional blog style. I used some plugins but I try to keep them light so that it doesn't slow down the site. Most of the adjustments in how content is presented is built into the template using hacked WP queries and fields.

    Children's Burn Foundation
This is an international nonprofit that wanted to showcase their services and the kids they support to generate donations.

SF Chapter of Natl. Assn. of Stock Professionals
These folks wanted to focus on their event listings and news updates, targeting an audience of industry professionals.

There are a lot of great template designers out there. Just look at the free templates you like best and those rated high, then go visit the designer to get a quote.
