Hey guys, First of all, I want to let you all know I am in no way supporting scammers. However, I really don't like so many scam reports when the problem can be prevented. Here are some tips to help, I hope you guys give me your input on these. They are off the top of my head, so sorry if some of them sound a little wacky but hey! It's my thread after all Domain/Site Scams I have seen a lot of people reporting that they get scammed because the received money and got a chargeback against them. Honestly, I think this is one of the easiest things to prevent. Now, something I go by is not iTrader. In fact it is how the person acts. If this person asks for you to push the domain and site first, then that is an obvious scam. Another example is if they act weird, in other words they may offer a huge price that isn't anything like what you would have thought of. Sure, they may be an end user but most of the time these people are just out to give you a chargeback. Some easy ways you can avoid a chargeback is by transferring the money to your bank right away; or possibly using another method of payment. Money Exchangers Yes, they are banned at DP. However, a lot of people still do these privately and have paid the price. I don't get what is so hard to understand; if you are willing to give someone your money for an exchange then you are opening the gates to get scammed. I won't write much more on this topic as it is not allowed at DP and well, what I have already said explains it. Ebook Course Scams Probably one of the biggest and easiest ways to get scammed. Giving money over to someone so they can teach you how to make money; when they aren't even making money themselves. Video proof can be faked! Pictorial proof can be faked! Any honest seller would offer this service with say a 50% up front fee and so on. An easy way to find out whether this person is going to cheat you is if they offer a review. Sure, most people who get reviews will post that they loved it because they got it free. But with courses people need to spend their money and someone that spends their money won't be all that afraid to write something bad about the service if it was crap. Oh and btw, I wouldn't expect to make $100 p/day off an ebook you spend $7 on Service Scams Another common one, but yet one of the easiest to look at. If you are asking for a writer, you want to hire someone that can write. If you hire someone that replies saying "hi I wants this jobs" then, obviously they won't be your choice. With designing, you want to look for people that are willing to actually give good work. You want to see a portfolio, and more. Once again, pretty self explanatory. Traffic Scams I am honestly against traffic providers as I don't believe they offer much. If you are going to buy cheap traffic, expect a cheap return. Don't go and make a fuss when you paid $2 for 10,000 hits and make $5 back from it. If you are willing to pay a small amount, expect a small amount back. With that said, I would recommend Adwords as my favorite traffic option considering you get what you pay for. Contest Scams This is the last scam I will talk about. Now, I recommend when entering a contest you watch the contest holders behavior. If they are acting odd by taking a lot of time to reply, then take that as a sign. Sure, people have a life outside DP but if this person is gone for a few days without notice then don't expect much of the contest. All in all, I would recommend that you follow simple steps. Watching how a person acts in a situation, past history and so on. I have never been scammed online and never found Paypal a problem in over two years of using it. I do however believe in one thing; you get what you pay for. Whenever I provide my work, I may charge a little extra but the buyer gets what they pay for. When I ask for a job to be done, I will also pay a little more to find that right person. I hope the tips have helped some of you, this is a little vague I know. But I'm sleepy and didn't know how to express myself all that well Looking forward to replies.
The first problem listed by you is really a big problem and is faced by many members here as well. But then, you have not offered a real solution since remitting the money quickly would be of no help since Paypal would anyway debit your account and will certainly find ways to recover the same from you....(just my 2 cents) Regards, RightMan
Thanks and i strongly agree with Ebook Course Scams If they are so rich, they will not have to sell the ebooks.
Excellent thread. I don't understand the first two, probably because I'm not a web master or web programmer. But I have seen the others right here on DP, in the Freebies board. I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one who thought those posts were just scams
Contest scams are a bit harder to detect. For example a startup forum offer $xxx for the member with the highest posts after the month but fails to deliver.
The thing that most annoying me in DP is the ebook course scams. I have seen a few new registered members who created a new thread and begging people how to make money online because they don't know how. After a few days, these members selling an ebook claiming they're making hundred of dollar every day for a couple of month already! Oh Please!!
Hey, Well I tried my best to explain it. Personally I believe with sites sales and so on, you really need to go by iTrader. If that person has done a lot of successful site sales and so on, then you can probably do well. Sure, some people with high iTrader may scam; but these people are often the ones that built theirs up doing link exchangers and so on. It is a hard one to pick, but being smart when selling it is what you need to do. If a newbie offers $150 and an experienced member offers $130 then I would go with the $130 deal. You can also work it out on how interested the person is and so on. Hard to explain, but there are ways to pick a scam. I have done many site sales privately and away from DP and never had a problem; I guess you just need to pick who you sell to wisely. Yup, that's the point I was getting at. Thanks for your input Freebies is really in my opinion of people who want to build up their lists, or secretly promote their warez forums If you think BST is bad, check the Adsense section! There are literally 5-10 newbies a day claiming how great Adsense is. However, they will only give you advice if you check out the ebook in their signature
Well You have made an excellent points in this thread I would agree with E-book course or selling E-book is a more regular scam on DP, everyday we see more then 20-25 threads and hardly few of them have genuine methods only rest are just same as most of people knows.
Haha Totally agree. It is also a shame to see so many people post good reviews simply because they get a free copy. Who cares? You may make the person that gave you the review feel good, but you are helping him basically rob others. Not sure if that was a poor attempt at a humorous statement, but I don't even have my Adsense revenue sharing thing on the forum Don't take that above reply as offensive. I'm bored and tired
I doubt you even read the thread. Thanks for the reply though You can take the information however you like. If you find you are doing a lot of deals on other forums, you can use this too. Glad you liked the information
Xe, love it .. However - if you take a deep breath and think about what your buying, you will never get scammed ! Remember 1 thing - there is no such a discounts like 75% off It's only to make you feel that you can get something for a cheaper price, but in real - you can get /nothing/. Traffic sellers - ok, there is a lot of scammers around this field, but you can test them before paying something. If he will be able to provide you with what he is offering - he will be able to provide you with a free test ride as well.
