php tutorial - it's okay to be mean!

I wrote part of this tutorial a while ago, and had a friend add to it.

This is only the first couple lessons, but eventually we'll post the whole tutorial.

I'm looking for any, and all, criticisms.

Please leave feedback on the scriptingpoint homepage or, preferably, on the php tutorial.

    Thanks!

Your homepage is nice a clear but its a bit bland. I think adding a few colors would brighten up the page.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about adding another accent color to the site, but couldn't get a good match for the existing color.

Also, do you like the gold box that pops up around hovered links on the main page? Should I make that site-wide?

    Thanks for the feedback!

The layout and design isn't bad however, I think the site would look better if you
added a few graphics to the page.

Interesting idea. Something to attract the visitors eyes quickly...

Would you suggest something like that for the homepage, or the tutorial pages?

    Thanks :)

Looks really professional because the concept was minimalistic but... being too minimalistic would mean so much empty, try adding more stuff like color, logo, etc..

Do you have to make that hover into bordered effect?

I like your site by the way because it is clean.

Okay, the general consensus add more color... I'll look into finding a good accent color..

Nope, don't have to, but I kind of like it. Did you not like it?

    Thank you!

    Thanks!

Is there anything you see that could make it better? Do you guys agree with the other people in this thread about the need for another color?

yes a bit bland.. needs some "life" injecting into it.. somthing to grab the visitors eyes.. I know its a site mainly to be informative. But you have got to have "kerb appeal" too.
