Hey I have the same problem and I searched around a lot for this, but I didn't find any solution. Someone suggested at another thread here on DP (can't find it right now) that the only way is through SSH, but I'm not really sure how. Tried directly copying it through CuteFTP, but it didn't work.
Wow , so its possible rite - are you sure that someone replied about it here ? Did you started a thread regarding this and got help ? If then it would be easy for me to find it - just by visiting your profile and then viewing the threads started by you.
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1167872 Here, I found some information, but I couldn't figure it out, I even enabled SSH on my server, but still I couldn't figure how and where to transfer the files. I downloaded Putty and connected to my server through SSH, but the command that is given in the thread didn't work. Go ahead and try it, maybe it will work for you.
Use FTP or SSH. With an FTP program you can simply log into the public_html (root) of your web site directory and drag the file to the other site from the GUI. Good FTP programs on Windows included CuteFTP Mac - Interarchy or Transmit are good ones If you SSH in, you could do the same from the command line. Examples doing this via a terminal program are located here: http://linux.about.com/od/commands/l/blcmdl1_ftp.htm
If you have FTP access on both servers then simply use FlashFXP and do a Server to Server File Transfer. You can get flashfxp here http://www.flashfxp.com/index.php
But in ftp , we can transfer btw our pc and server rite ? and not from one server to anther server rite ? It shud always be from our pc to online location or from online location to pc right ?
Using SSH you can transfer from one server to the other, yes. With FTP, you could download from one server to your local pc, then transfer it on to another location. Some FTP software is powerful enough to mirror files from one server to another.
FlashFXP will do a FXP File Transfer which goes straight from one server to another it doesnt download to your pc first. it makes a connection between the 2 servers via ftp and transfers the file directly.
here is a tutorial telling exactly how to do it through flash fxp http://www.flashfxp.com/tutorials.php?s=4
Hmmm if the file has public download link, then its possible that you run a php script on your server to download it to ur server.. its really easy
If the sites are on the same webserver that will be easy - ask your webhost to do it or just do it via SSH with a cp command
