Google's "Copyright material" ploy

Google's "Adsense" program has decided to stop ad serving to the bookstolistento website because we are distributing copyright material. They seem to have conveniently ignored the fact that we either hold the copyright or are authorized by the copyright holder to distribute the material in question!

As soon as they notified me of this alleged breach of conditions, I wrote back to them pointing out that we are authorized to distribute the material there. I also asked them if they have received any notification of any alleged copyright infringement by my site, but they failed to reply to any of the THREE messages I sent them. They replied to a fourth message, but didn't actually address any of the points I made. It was simply a standard form reply that ignored the facts - not something I would expect of an honest company.

What is interesting is that the site has been operating like this for two years without any problems. It is only now that earnings are starting to accumulate in the account (and during a major financial crisis, interestingly enough) that Google have "noticed" this and decided that it is a problem. Just to repeat: I AM ONLY DISTRIBUTING MATERIAL THAT I EITHER OWN OR AM AUTHORIZED TO DISTRIBUTE BY THE OWNERS.

I am wondering if this is a reflection of the economic crisis and if Google now feels the need to manufacture false pretexts to find fault with partners to whom it owes money. I am not suggesting for a minute that my modest earnings alone will make a difference to a company the size of Google. But multiply what happened to me by millions of other users and you can imagine how much money they will save - and that could help any company that needs to save money at all costs.

I therefore ask if any other Google adsense users have had their accounts frozen on a similar false pretext?

As far as I understand it, they refund the adwords account that lost moeny due to clicks on your 'copyright infringement' site. Whether they actually do this for the entire two years your site has been active is detable....

That leads to next question: Anybody seen any strange refunds in their Adwords account?

There is not a shred of evidence that they actually DO refund the money! Also, as they are not claiming click-fraud but only that the site has copyright material (which it does - AUTHORIZED copyright material), one has to ask on what basis they would be claiming to return it.

The reality is that in the absence of specific evidence to the contrary, it is clear that they are simply canceling as service on the account when it has money in it so as to prevent it from ever reaching the payment threshold and then retaining other people's money for themselves.

The timing is also suspicious because they are doing this during the financial crisis. This suggests that they are trying to top up their coffers at all costs. And this in turn suggests that they are in dire straits - financdially speaking.

Maybe now would be a good time for all financially savvy people to sell their shares in Google.

I seriously doubt the practice you are incinuating is takin place over at Google.
    although I too am skeptical of some business practices. for example;
I maintain that there are times that instead of dishing out 40% of
of what is charged to the advertiser Google may bring that down
to 15% or less. So instead of getting .40 from a click that an advertiser
is paying $1.00 for, they may choose to give out .20 .15 or who knows
since there is no way of knowing. This argument that you are putting
forward, holds no water since there are so many people consistently
making $x,xxx a month. matter of fact the DP owner shawn makes 10-12k/m
