How many people do you think are going to lose their TV because of DTV?

How many people do you think are going to lose their TV because of DTV? There's a ton of commercials telling people that they need to make changes but I'm sure there will be some people who will lose their TV in February.

 

Um, well, i would guess that everybody will lose their analog tv since it won't work anymore

 

Nobody...if any then they are idiots lol. You can simply get a converter box since its free to get it with a goverment coupon

 

I don't think its free. Its like $40 off the converter.

 

and DTV is yet to become popular in many parts of the world...

 

Maybe for the small TV's it's better to buy just a new small one they cost about 50 bucks anyway.

 

Probably quite a few. I know that Dish Satellite has yet to go digital properly.

 

I bet more than most people think...living in a bigger city I hardly see/know anyone with a rabbit ears TV anymore though I sister had one up until mabe 2-3 years ago and didn't have cable either. However, in more rural areas and/or in poorer families I could imagine some people may still have rabbit ears TV's with no cable service. I think it was over $1 billion in coupons the gov't was expecting to have to give out for converter boxes.

 

I just fired my cable tv compnay for being way too damn expensive. Recently found that they offer a plan for $9.99 for those just wanting digital service to the home.

Pay $9.99/month or get an OTA digital antenna? hmmm

 

Yes , a converter works well .
But the monthly rental of "DTV" or "HDTV" is higher than before .

 

I don't know and I don't care since it isn't known on my country.

 

We have a converter and it doesn't work well at all. We live many miles from any stations. At least with analog it was fuzzy. With digital it's all or nothing.

 

T.V is over rated it wastes so much time people should get out more and exercise

 

we're just starting to convert fully in the UK now. There's one area where analogue no longer works and then they're rolling it out across the entire country - analogue is getting switched off completely in 2012 (I think)

 

We have a projector (IT'S AMAZING!!!! HDTV is so overrated when you can get one of these babies that has the lens that you can turn until the picture is the sharpness you want) that's only like $500 and hooks directly to our little U-verse box. So, we don't actually have a TV, we just have a thing that shines the image onto the wall.

Honestly though, it's like having one of those HUUUGE HDTVs that cost as much as a house! If it wasn't illegal, we'd be converting our garage into a theater and charging people to come and watch a movie. . Our garage fits two cars, so you can imagine just how nice a widescreen movie would look on the door.

 

i dunno.. but its so much better to switch to a digital TV.. the quality in infinitely better

lol, yeah, top gear has a pretty big budget. To be fair though, TV-wise, I don't think anything can really top the BBC. OK, in recent years they're doing a bit too much "I'm a 120 stone 5 year old with 60 brothers and sisters and neither of my parents have ever worked" type shows but they are responsible for some of the most quality tv ever - David Attenborough's work should be celebrated forever and it was all funded by the bbc, recently there's been Rome and The Tudors too...
