Any Ideas On How To Move Higher?

i rank for a fairly competitive key phrase in Google UK (all the web)

the highest position it has been is # 2. but there are times when it does drop to # 3, but never out of the top 5, and then it settles back at # 2

any suggestions on how to keep this more stable at # 2 and also how to give that final push to get it to # 1?

Once you reach top you will need to keep positions. And that requires lots of work to be done every day.

 

Build quality links.. Choose quality against quantity.. you can outrank 1000 no quality links with 12 quality links...

 

Just build some back links

 

I noticed the same thing on one of my sites and didn't touched it. Now its gone in a "black gape" forever.
My advice by my experience : work hard to keep it there, "touch it" everyday

 

Just make one execution plan for your promotion and strictly stick to it .

1)Daily social bookmarking
2)Forum
3)Press release and article.
4) Keep adding new pages ..untill you achieve first rank continue to do it (Add new pages every 2-3 week)
5) Start social networking like facebook,orkut and other they will give your more traffic.

YES keep in Mind BE ORIGINAL as much as you can

 

You may try some targeted link-baits that would be related to your main search terms.
Quality and informative contents will always attract quality and related links - besides more traffic.

seems much difficult because
no1 maybe buy the key word so they always in the No1 place

 

Don't do anything.

If you have good content then natural links will keep coming your way. You're already number 2 so there's no need for reckless action or you'll lose that high rank. I had a site that was on page 1 for a number of competitive keywords but never got near number 1. I got tired doing seo and just let it went up all on it's own.

 

Good work.I suggest you need to work on regular basis if you want to be stable.There are some factors which has to be considered is that the are many competitors for your keyword,keep a watch on them what they are doing ie competitor analysis for all your keywords.Update people about your services and products using press release sites.

We cannot guarantee fixed Google position. Since you have archived 2nd position you can build more backlinks to retain the position and getting to 1 st place.

Is it changing because you are adding backlinks or is it just randomly changing by itself?

At this point I think you need to make more and more high quality backlinks. I have around 3 sites that ranks in google UK at first page. One of them is stable at #2 position for many highly competitive keywords and I get around 7000 daily visitors to it with 5500 via search engines. I only focus on making quality backlinks at this stage and my sites are stable from more than 2 years period.

 

Just buid backlinks and add new content. It should works..
