This afternoon I suddenly found that hundreds of my back links built in months had lost!!

I have done nothing to the site for the last five months.

    Any idea??

    Thanks in advance!

you do not need to make something to YOUR site to lose backlinks.
Maybe some websites that were pointing to yours deleted your link.

I think its due to the removal of backlinks from a few websites which have lot of pages.

Do you mean Google Webmasters is showing fewer links? If so, the same has happened to my sites.

yes I know that...but now the question is why Google is slashing my back links...is it because they think I'm not doing something?

You might lost some of your website important backlinks, but the question is have your SERP's changed as well ;)

If yes, then you need to work more on your website link building and getting more backlinks.

Even greatest of webmasters fail to understand the complexity of Google algorithm, in this case your website surely has been the prey.
