You should never trust an untrusted computer since you never know what the guy before you (or the guy that owns it) has put on it. You might try putting some keylogger software on a thumbdrive and running it before you use the computer, or go to somewhere like Trend and scanning the computer before you use it.. Using a Linux or Mac (OS X) computer might make it less likely to have a keylogger on it, but, you should treat any un-trusted computer as, well, UNtrusted..
If you can, use a live bootCD OS to use on public computers, depending on the internet configuration it may not work with all public computers.
of course, what i meant to say was put some ANTI-keylogger software on a thumbdrive .. aka anti-trojan/Antivirus software.
anti-trojan/anti-keylogger software will be worthless if not run with admin priviledges. Even if it is sometimes a rootkit can make it's self invisible to anything after it's running. The secret here is to have an antivirus before the malware gets installed, or scan the system in safe mode. You can never be safe enough. Simply don't trust public computers.
Avoid using important accounts like PAYPAL on public computers, there are few ways to avoid keyloggers, but you can not avoid any Hardware keylogger.... Always check for good anti virus in the system u r using.
Not if you're on one of those public computers running Windows 98 or Win Me .. Don't laugh, i've seen them.. and in some countries, they are the norm..
Well try to use a anti virus on scanning any removable disk before opening it on your computer. Your anti virus must always be updated for security reasons.
You could just use the onscreen keyboard. I presume that would encode it's data in a different way to an ordinary keypress.
Public computers are never safe and hardly we can do anything to prevent keylogger. But I also suggest to use some anti-keylogging plugin in your own system too. I use KeyScrambler (http://www.qfxsoftware.com) plugin which encrypts every key stroke. Kailash
I use the Stealthsurfer. Everything is stored on the flash drive not the hard drive, plus your IP address is masked. Your activity cannot be tracked back to you. Encrption between you and the internet. I've been using this for 2 years. Total security.
