    It's a dangerous and shocking news, as I have never got an issue with paypal. Have you used more than one paypal account...it could be one of the reasons for this

    Once they have denied a claim, they will not reverse it. They are very stubborn. I guess you are stuck for 6 months.

    And what about my case? Six months have passed, in the meantime they have sent back the money that was rightfully mine to my providers. There is just $1.95 in the account (the remainder amount of the $2 I had deposited via credit card for verification), which cannot be withdrawn, since the minimum withdrawal amount is $10. I have submitted all the required documents, have changed by password and secret question as requested, yet my account is yet to be released. Guess the only option is to ring them.

    I am so sorry for what happened to you, but I have been on the other side, being the customer who gets stiffed and I must say taht what happened to you, though sad returns my confidence in Paypal.

    If you happen to know WHO it is that is claiming a refund, you can have that person write a disclaimer letter to paypal that might hurry things up. I know because I stupidly did it.

    Thanks Malena for your kind words. The problem was not with the provider. In fact he was providing me with work on a regular basis when suddenly Paypal starts its show. They limited my account for reasons unknown (`there is a suspicious activity in your bank account'; `there are hacking attempts on your account').

    I explained to them via email that there were no hacking incidents. My main ISP was down and hence I had to log in using the services of another ISP. I even provided them the IP of that alternate ISP, to no avail.

    Then I was provided with the option of waiting for 6 months or refunding money to my provider. One fine morning I noticed that the money had been refunded without notifying me. Then I was requested to (a) change my password (I did so); (b) change the secret question (I did so); (c) provide them with proof of identity (I provided them with my health documents & utility papers); (d) provide bank statement (I did so).

    One day I received an email claiming my account has been restored and the mail contained a link to a survey where I was supposed to express my satisfaction. Luckily, I decided to check my Paypal account first. It had not been restored... here is a part of the mail I received from them: (text highlighted by me)

    =========
    We understand that your PayPal account may have been temporarily limited due to questions or concerns by our Account Review team. Thank you very much for your cooperation during this process. We are pleased that your account has now been reinstated.
    =========

    A few days later I get this mail:

    =========
    As you know, we have been reviewing the transaction detailed below. Our
    investigation is now complete and we have returned the funds to the PayPal
    account holder.
    =========

    Thanks once again Malena for your concern. God Bless :)

    This is the notification I received a day after accessing my Paypal account through a different ISP & this was the beginning of all my Paypal related problems:
    ==========

    As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the
    PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding
    your account.

    We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party.
    We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your
    account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand
    that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your
    account is our primary concern.

    Correct.

    The original business model was based on the interest earnings from holding funds for 3-4 days before completing transfers. Sure, one individual transaction wasn't worth very much by itself, but multiply that many times over and that was how they initially made money.

    They got in, they got huge, and now they can do whatever they want. They have absolutely no incentive to run an honest, transparent business when they can make so much money otherwise.

    As of now, there is no feasible option for Paypal. However, if Google rushes things, it might pose a challenge in the near future.

    Hello,

    I'm sorry to hear you're having such a poor experience with Paypal.

    From personal experience may I suggest that you just state repetitive, persistent, but of course also respectful with your pursuit of obtaining assistance with this issue from Paypal via phone, or whatever may be the method you are using for communicating ?

    Regards,

    William

    Ok, What in the world made you establish that? Are you working at Paypal's offices? I believe the exactly opposite of that. Paypal is the Biggest scam on internet. They hide behind their Terms Of Service and rip-off thousands of $$$. Anyway, you haven't yet experienced the burn, you will soon enough. I never keep more than $200 in my Paypal account. At any time they put the stupid limitation, FINE go ahead and buy some booze with my 200 bucks. I don't give a smokin crack. But the real question stays there, what makes you believe that they don't scam anyone? They don't even spare charities and churches. They just blindly put limitations on people's accounts and ask for documents. Even after you provide each and every document, they don't remove the limitation. They hold your money in their piggi bank for 180 days and earn interest on it. Then they release your money after 180 days, if they ever do. I know how to bring them on their knees and take my money back. Last time I got my $7200 stuck in my Paypal account, I learned the lesson. Yes, I got each and every cent recovered although had to wait 180 days. So I never let it go above $200 in my account.
    What you can do in the mean time, contact FTC.gov, contact BBBOnline.org and there are other agencies where you can file an appeal online. They will forward your appeal to Paypal and paypal will be answerable. There is a long procedure to get your money back. But if you just sit back listening to rediculous comments specially the one I quoted above, you will have a hard luck getting your money back buddy. So act now!
    Regards.

    Sorry to hear about your problem , but as far as i think paypal is still the best option out there for smooth business , i have been using it from 5yrs and i never got any limits even though i had like 20 refund requests in three days time...as i do only legit business following all the terms that are put by them i am safe...i even contact them often if i feel that something may go wrong when starting a new project...i always get a prompt and nice suggestive reply..to your surprise i activated with VCC and still not added any of my original CC to my account but added 2 of my bank accounts....so just act in a good way as per the terms and you all be safe....Good Luck:)

    Paypal won't limit your account for no reason. You should contact them by phone and see what the problem is. You can also add more than one credit card...if you have more than one...good luck..;)

    Yes, it can be. I don't wish to pass on any links buddy. But use google and search for "paypal sucks" (within the inverted commas).
    And visit all the sites you see. You will find 'n' number of sites and many people discussing what to do in such a situation.
    You can also visit FTC.gov and BBBOnline.org
    It does not matter what part of the world you are in. If you think that some company is not running a business within the legal limits and is not treating you lawfully, you have every right to contact these companies. But I would recommend you to first write a professional email to Paypal. First inform them that what they requested, you have already submitted (documents or whatever). Then ask them to reply back and inform you why your account is still on hold. Tell them in professional language that if they do not respond within 3 business days, you will contact Company 1, Company 2, Company 3, etc. And you will take the required actions to make sure that Paypal listens to your complaint and be accountable to you.
    Every individual, every case is different. Its you who can make a difference, IF you and your business are legit.
    Buddy, be ready to research and find your way through. There are many who have got their accounts recovered and got their money back from the evil.

    Regards,
    Andy.
