250k pages indexed. Weight only 1485. Why?

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by 12washington, Jun 22, 2006.

I have a site that has 250k pages indexed and I added to COOP and it gave me a weight of only 1485. Keeps fluctuating most of the time from 1485 to 2450. A few days ago Google was showing only 48k but today it shows 250k. Any advice why the COOP weight is so low?

How much weight should I expect from a site with these many pages indexed?

Weight is calculated by the API.

I know and I added the API when I signed up for COOP. My Google API tools show 277000 pages indexed.

Nintendo: Are you kidding me? How will it help you if I were to tell you my domain name?

So do you just want us to guess?

Unless you post your URL you won't be getting many opinions

    Google api tools? What's that?

Sorry, but due to some reasons, I really cannot disclose the URL. I do understand that sites with these many pages aren't supposed to receive such low weight if the weight is solely based upon the PR (in my case is 5/10), and number of pages indexed. I also have about 25k back links.

I developed a tool that searches Google using their API. I developed this couple years ago... There's a difference between number of pages indexed shown by their API and google.com. API shows higher number.

Indeed, most DCs show 277k some show 264k and two show 603!!! This is crazy. So does this mean that my weight is currently based upon the number 603 and not 277k or 264k?

You may have 270k pages indexed, but if they are all in the supplemental index, chances are good you aren't going to get weight for them.

Bingo!!!!!!!! Though if Google.com showed the high number you would think you would have more fat.

Yep, you've 'gone supplemental' just like a load of other webmasters with fairly large sites, myself included.

None of the pages are in the supplemental hell. The weight today dropped to like 680! I'm frustrated.

Well it sounds incredibly like you've gone supplemental. My site is listed as having 25,700 pages and I've got a weight of about 600 because from about page 8 onwards everything is listed as a supplemental result. Sift through the first few pages to see if they start coming up like that.

If the API is showing 277,000, that really does sound like the only explanation. Maybe it is grabbing from another datacenter on the ad-network and that may be it, but it screams supplemental to me.

I only get a weight of 45? yick. I see lots of supplemental pages that were cached a year ago. I know google is still indexing lots of pages on my site, but they don't appear yet in google results.

So, is this supplemental think going to be fixed by Google? Are there any estimates when that might be?

Or, is there something that needs to be changed on our sites to escape supplemental?

This is like saying I think my car should go faster because I got a V8 and it's a luxury sedan with all available options. Catch is I can't tell you the make or model please help. Not trying to be a jerk but a url would really help. Either way don't expect much weight with Google going through puberty right now. :D
