Today I found on Google a site that is totally copying my content. After a little investigation I discovered links back here to DP. Obviously the person is a DP member. Since the jerk is running Adsense with MY content, I already reported him to Google Adsense in hopes of getting him kicked out of the program. I am going to file copyright infringement complaints with his hosting, Google, and Yahoo. I hope he gets what he deserves. This is the exact reason why I don't put links in my signature on here, and I do not share my sites on DP.
if a person is copying content then he must be copying other sites too not just the ones linked in dp.
i am very sorry to hear this. i had a problem with a Free skin i used on a old forum of mine. the person was given the skin away free on their own forum and the next week i was getting threating emails. The internet is full of scammers and people should come together and crack down on this
Well google or any other search engine won't do anything unless you show that you have the correct copyright infomation thats if you even took the time to copyright your own content which i highly doubt. And besides sounds like your overreacting just a little bit dont u think.
Over reacting? Lets say you took hours upon hours to research and create your content. Then some jerk comes along and does copy paste to his own site. Then tries to make money off your own content AND get ranked with it, wouldn't that piss you off?
Yip i agree... lots of jerkoffs that cant think for themselves or come up with anything original and steal everything they see Its been done to us as well in the past good luck malcolm
DAMN, I hate this situations - this 12, 13 years old teens who doesn't know the law and our efforts to create content just find it interesting and copy it I would give a very strict law about those persons and punish them in a painfull way I hope this gets solved soon
It sucks but there is never anything that would prevent people from doing that. Not saying that you have no reason to complain because I would be pissed, but I'm sure there are tons of pictures on your site you didn't whip out your digital camera and take yourself, right? Who doesn't search for images or icons that they like and use them on their own site? So, I think in one small way or another, we're all guilty of copying content.
If you created the content first and got it indexed search engines will understand this and will not rank their website. The other person will not benefit from, ripping you off.
Copyscape is so popular nowadays Btw, I have a trick you can do make good use of this issue. Read it if you are interested http://themelib.com/2008/12/how-to-find-spam-blogs-republish-your-rss-feeds-and-make-good-use-of-it/
Your content will be spreaded over the internet : 100s of sites will copy it . It will be hard to control the situation ..
I have a software a freeware, It is spread over internet so much so that my site does not rank for the same freeware that I coded and made it free, instead others websites.
I've had similar problems for years now with this. Text wise - its not easy to stop people completely copying your text. However, for photographs that I have taken myself, I now watermark all of them. The amount of my photos I have seen being used on other sites is staggering. I got to the point where enough was enough, and am now protecting my material. Lets see some asshole start copying my photos where I have my web URL and copyright text all over it !! Alex
I can totally relate to what you're experiencing. What I essentially did after the first time this happened to me was put subtle links to my website (or any other page on it) in the content. Since the jerk most probably hasn't even cared to read the whole thing, leave alone edit it - you get a free backlink to your site, and Google will obviously give your website more value. I also watermarked all images on my website, and put a CopyScape Icon at the bottom (to deter 12-13 yr old's from copying). However, there's nothing much you can possibly do except PM'ing the jerk himself and requesting him to put a backlink to your site. Tell him that he can keep the content on his page and earn all the revenue from adsense, but just include a backlink to your site. PS: If you're seriously into the site, and the content he's copied is really a big deal, you can file a DMCA complaint (do a Google search).
Let's read the article by Amit about this issue http://www.labnol.org/internet/blogging/content-theft-on-blogger-and-wordpress/4862/
