http://tiffinchamber.com/ This is not my site, but a friend is involved with it and asked for my input. Last time she asked I was typing all day! So anyway, it was recently redone, missing some content, etc. The first thing most will notice is it redirects to /wordpress. I sent instructions how to fix that. Not sure I can impress how important that is... I'll hold off on further comments for a bit and see if I can point her and the webmaster to this thread tomorrow.
you have a few links that do not appear to be linked correctly in the footer the About us - links to a blank page Members directory - you get a SQL error Our Community - links to a blank page Home - links to /home and not to the root of the site Contact us - would have been better to have a contact page that list the physical address, phone number, and a web form for questions. this would be more professional then just opening the users default mail You need to turn off directory indexing as seen on http://tiffinchamber.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/default/images/ Hope this helps
Thanks for spending time on it. You caught a few I hadn't seen yet! There are some definite navigation things that can be fixed. I think, in their defense they may have used blank pages to get the design together... but that can be an SEO mistake, especially since similar pages from the previous site were already indexed. Some SEO and Design comments would be appreciated too if anyone else wants to chime in.
Yeah, having emails exposed that way is pretty old school. I haven't used any wordpress contact plugins. Is this a good one to suggest? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/
Thanks you may have a point. I think overall there needs to be more graphics. Though the big block on the front page is welcoming. Hmmm Maybe this is what you are saying. That space to the left of "About Us" might be better with a graphic. I'd make the banner beneath the links on inside pages clickable to home too. How do you feel about having the links above the banner? I'm not sure how much of this is created via the wordpress theme. I tend to hesitate basing a lot of site design on a theme that may not be updated with the next version. Any thoughts?
