Do We Have Any Recourse?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by GaryEarle, Jan 6, 2009.

Maybe this is not the place for this thread to be but, it relates to conetnt creation. More specifically it relates to those individulas who for some reason or another....don't pay for services rendered....and who are members of this forum.

What recourse do we as providers have when payment is not received?

    Could someone help here...

I would have replied to the thread that was listed as the opportunity...but that was "conveniently closed".

I don't know about anyone else, but it's not fun trying to chase the money.

OH..and to the moderators..I apologize in advance if this isn't the place for this..
Any help from fellow writers would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    Gary Earle

You really cant do anything about it bro. Thats the policy of the BTS section, the buyer and seller are at their own risk. If there is scam or if you dont get paid, you cant do anything about it. At the most you can leave a negative itrade, but then you will get one back in return. thats the limitation here. Just you have to be more careful when you are entering into a trade with anyone

As biker has said, be wary of people who seem suspicious and have "strange" conditions. Don't undersell yourself, otherwise you will look like an easy target. There have been many cases on DP where even people with high iTrader have duped others. If you are unlucky, don't get disheartened and move on. But learn from your mistakes.

To Biker and Sei...ya know that sucks......and your right...if you leave a negative ITrader, you get one back.

Hasn't anyone ever thought of like ..a deadbeat section?? or an area that is like a community to kind of weed out both sellers and providers who dont live up to the bargain?

I dont know...just frustrated thats all

You seem to be improving on your itrader and the more you appear to be trusted the more pull you have in your negotations. Personally, I never send the full articles I write to the buyers until I have recieved payment. If they want me to verify that they have been completed, I will quote small portions of them in a PM.

I do not request payment until I have completed the articles though... ever. Some people prefer to send the advanced payment, and thats fine. But I never request it.

You can leave a negative itrader and you can also use whatever it is they didn't pay for yourself.

No I Think He's Saying You Can Leave Negative ITrader On The Person Who Scamed You And Use The Content You Made For Whatever Else. Like If You Wrote A Article For Someone And They Wont Pay For It, You Can Use That Article Yourself For Whatever You Want, Plus You Can Mess Up There Account With Negative Feedback.

    Hoped That Help GaryEarle ;)

You can leave a negative iTrader on the thread. You risk having that person leave you a negative iTrader too.

In the future, require a deposit or even full payment on your projects before you start writing.

I'm really new here so i haven't had the chance to be scammed yet, but on the internet its bound to happen. I suppose you just have to watch you accept work from and make sure all payment details are taken care of before hand.

If there are scammers here though, they should be tended to. If not we should at least be able to warn other users of them.

Are there any rules against someone creating a simple web pages, like a wall of shame.. with the names of scammers on it. Then make a banner that people in support of this could put in their signature and the banner would take you to the web page.

Not sure if that would be allowed, but i personally don't see why it wouldnt.

    was just a thought.

If it's for a student, put their report/essay on the thread. They won't be able to ask to remove it and they'll probably get expelled or suspended from school because the teachers will find it and see that they actually did buy it, that's the ultimate punishment. :D.

    LOL that is mean ;)
I would suggest asking for 50% upfront unless they are a very trusted member with high iTrader.

That's a good idea SweetG! If at least people who come here to scam others knew that they may be exposed, MAYBE it would cut down on the scamming attempts.

Use the content yourself. That way the other guy doesn't get unique content.

You could give a negative Itrader, but you will risk getting one in return.

Shaming him in your signature might not go down well here- it constitutes a personal attack on another member.

I remember a guy who bought signatures to spread the word that a certain person was bad, and soon after, the guy as well as the people from whom he had bought signatures were banned. Not sure whether those rules are still prevalent here though.

The best solution would obviously be to ask for a 50% deposit upfront, especially from newbies.

Yeah, but you know what, most schools WANT to get rid of those kids anyway. At my school, the teachers were just waiting for something horrible to happen so they could kick someone out. Most likely, if you have all A's, you can slip with a suspension (and I know this because it happened to my friends all the time), if you're an easy target and have a lot of negative from everyone, then it's like you're busted.

And I purely only do this for the money, so does everyone else around here. I mean, I don't spend 5-10 hours on someone's paper to get nothing. I enjoy researching and expanding my knowledge, as you can see by my recent post n services, I have a vast knowledge of things. You can't reuse them either because they tend to be very narrow, and that's to insure that students aren't stealing material on the internet.

And well, the recent guy who did this to me, he probably just made up some excuse not to give me the money. He just decided to wait until I was halfway done to come up with it, which made me mad. So, he got what he deserved, and I hope others follow in my footsteps to do the same to non-paying students.

To Falling Down and Gr8.....thanks for the advice....but it still would be nice to somehow have a forum area somewhere....maybe call it "Duke It Out"....where non payers and non performers can be called out..

I guess when all is said....I doubt that would ever come to fruition.

And yes, I understand that digital point doesn't want personal attacks.. but at the same time...I can't understand why they want individuals who either can't pay or can't perform either..

Oh well..as I said in the beginning....it just gets a bit frustrating
