Hi guys I have a few amazon sites but trying to make one in wordpress I really don't like to use iframes unless you guys say it doesnt really affect the site much as far as search engines. the site is planetgreeninfo.com I just started working on it today so not a lot is done. Right now im just putting a picture of the item and making title product name and link straight to amazon aff link. I don't this this is the best way to do it. Any suggestions
What's your website about? Make it so clear at one glance people can see what's it about. Ask yourself why people would want to buy from your site compared to Amazon itself? What are you doing to help these people? Are you giving them information to help them with a purchase? How is that product going to help them? In short, give readers value first before you expect them to return back the value (in the form of buying an item from your link). Side note, my iframes actually convert much better than my picture links. Don't know why also.
I think text links are always preferrable to picture links, or better both - if you don't have this maybe that's why? Because the iframe widget usually has a text link. If you hadn't made that comment I probably would have said to the OP to keep making text/picture links. Still better short of making some plugin of your own because the content is all on your site. Only thing is that it won't update and you have to timestamp the price in some way if you are quoting it because it's quite likely to change...
Oh yeah, text links gets way more clicks on my blog as well. It has to depend on the type of context surrounding it really. But these links don't convert once the reader gets onto Amazon. That's because I always put them in a link list — without context. So it's actually very very important to place whatever Amazon clickables (widgets, links, banners) into context. Meaning, if do a writeup for the product, the chances of people actually buying it is higher.
It's the default way to add products when you're brought to the linking page of the product. E.g. click the site strip bar to link the product and you'll go to the product page. On your blog or whatever, just enter the code into the html form section. E.g. entering that iframe code onto this forum won't work because this is not a html form section (this is bbcode section).
Paste it into your html body code. But you need to log into to Amazon and set up the aStore to get the above link.
Iframe have always converted much better that just the image for me. Even when I've written a nice blurb before the image or iframe. Does anybody see good conversion from the widgets, like the slideshow widget?
My slideshow widget does okay. It's got accessories to the electronics i sell from other sources tha Amazon
