Maybe I've been watching the show Monk too much, but this news article doesn't sit right with me...

German billionaire kills self, family says

"Financial woes"? The dude was worth $9.2 BILLION DOLLARS!

    9.2 billion = 9,200,000,000, yikes.

According to the very well-researched book "Affluenza" by the clinical psychologist Oliver James, the incidence of depressive illnesses in society increases in direct proportion to people's wealth. Seriously.

Hogwash, too much money is not a bad thing. Look at Buffett and Gates. Money empowers them to do good works. They have both donated most of their fortunes to charity. The world is a better place because of them. Your anti money talk is rooted in jealousy or ignorance. Many people talk this way as a way to justify their own mediocrity.

I'm not rich, but I'm glad there are rich people out there. It gives me hope that my dreams can come true.

You can't hate people for being rich without damaging/limiting your own dreams and ambitions.

It makes sense, but JESUS! He still had enough money to give every man, woman, and child in the USA like $30, haha!

EDIT, that would not be a good way to blow 9billion though, as we would just use the $30 to buy mcdonalds.

Hold on there Sparky. You're reading way to much in a simple statement. Did I say anything about "anti-money"?

Maybe that's why Buffett and Gates give most of their fortune to charity, to avoid the pitfalls of "too much money".

I did I say anything about hating people? I think not.

Some people in this world try to make themselves appear smarter by putting other people down.

The nearest thing to "anti-money talk" in this thread was my own observation about the published research of Oliver James (which admittedly draws attention to one of the potential downsides of amassing great wealth). Nothing else.

I think even a person with $9.2bn can experience financial woes. I guess it just depends on your perspective and the amounts you're accustomed to. For example, say he'd lost $8.2bn on some very bad investments. He's still got $1bn to burn which is huge by yours or my standards but are you saying that wouldn't pinch?

$8.2 billion lost??? whoa... then i must say, even i can have a heart attack... man even if you've left with $1 billion but loosing $8.2 billion wud be very overwhelming but it wud be quite different if i'd have earned the $9.2 billion in lottery :p
