About time they started doing something for the advertisers besides "get clicks".

Well, they have done smart pricing, but I don't want to stray from the thread...but this was a move to be expected I guess. Did you remember reading all the threads about smart pricing and people saying that , google should just do CPA ads? Well look and behold what they did. According to the faq though, they are splitting up into two networks, one for CPA and the other for Contextual.

I want to try this CPA offering they have going on...it seems like a money maker.

Don't expect a response from CJ about this. Any CJ mention would give it more publicity.

Also what would CJ tell about it?

"Hey dear Publishers and Advertises partners, don't be afraid we can win this fight against Google!"

Steve Messer - then President of LinkShare gave a speech at Affiliate Summit a couple years ago that keeps ringing in my head.

He said Beware Google - Google is NOT your friend. I think he saw this coming.

But I remember way back when some people said Froogle would be the end of affiliate marketing as we know it and nothing ever came of that.

This is going to be interesting to say the least!

Uhh.. am I reading this wrong or does this not entail unlimited profit to the advertisers? They pay say 20% of their profit whenever someone clicks on an ad and buys their product?

If you're only paying when someone buys a product, isn't it gaurunteed that you will never lose any money?

One huge benefit I can see for advertisers is lowered sign-up fees. Commission Junction charges thousands of dollars just to open your account as a merchant. You can bet Google will be cheap, if not free.

The Beta Testing Program began probably 1 week ago.

The internal test is almost impossible to know as G keeps its new products very confidential.

Honestly, i dont think G will completely kill Cj.... G will only dominate the market, and it will take some time.

and for most publishers, i think PPC model is more desirable for them. PPC has been going on for so long, and it is not going to go away soon.

May be this is one step towards eliminating fraud clicks :)
