Have you joined affiliate programs outside of affiliate networks?

Have you joined individual programs without going through a network or will you simply only go through an affiliate network to find and apply to merchants programs?

Many times when I've clicked on a merchant's link for Affiliate, it takes me to a site like CJ or Linkshare

I join whatever and wherever I feel a product will work for me

For instance, I joined More Niche because of the wealth of information and resources available for their members, such as pre written content and landing pages.

And I've earned more with More Niche than I have with my memberships at all those affiliate networks offering loads of merchants

Yeah ive noticed that, it will often lead to a network that they have chosen to use.

So you would still sign up individually too, if they are not with a network and just have their own program setup?

Yes, I do that if they are not with a network and something I want to promote strongly

i didnt understand the post from whoever said they find appropriate products by going direct. So you mean as you are doing research and find a product relevant to your niche you then check outthe affiliate info? Or are you searching via engine for pertinent products to hook up with. just curious.

I have had a few in-house companies screw me. Protica earned me a few hundred dollars, but never paid me a dime. Most third party programs would give a company the boot if they didn't pay. They also take a portion of the sale, though. There might be much less competition because of fewer affiliates, which could lead to easier sales.
All in all, it's a crapshoot.

What was their reason for not paying, or did they not give a reason?

I guess each approach has pros and cons, using networks and not using them.

Yes. This especially depends on the type of offer you will be pitching. Many times the networks will take a large % cut and therefore you can get a much higher payout through the companies directly instead of through the network.

This is what ive been thinking about.

Also i kinda see affiliate networks like employment agencies, by going through them their often picking up the same as what you do or slightly more.
