Couldn't agree more, I spent three days over Christmas manually re-checking every proxy listed at A-Z Proxies and cleaning out the dead sites. I think I have said this before, but I have often used the random feature to compare how my list is doing against proxy dot org.... open Firefox and hit the random button 20 times and see how many dead sites appear... more often than not I have the better results.

There are several far better lists out there now than proxy dot org.

Thanks for the order, I have a few new features launching soon which will bring in even more traffic for you. ;)

On a side note, does anyone have the URL of that site where the guy was selling submission to proxy lists for a few bucks?

    Yes,i have noticed it too.
AFAIK,they seems to have problem in finding advertiser to buy ads from them,so they keep showing their ads.

    They are not self promoting.
It is called fillers. When there are no ads in their inventory, it will show a filler ads to fill the gaps.

"ad.globalintactive.com" doesn't even load for me. Is it down? Or maby they blocked my IP, I do work on my sites alot , and load the ads. I try to avoid that though by using an adblocker like Privoxy.
