Proxy Hosting- which to choose from these two?

    Ok, after my last host stabbed my back I am thinking of getting back up again, now i searched for 'good' 'reliable' 'proxy' host and saw these two hosts which look very promising:

    http://www.cmodz-hosting.com/proxy.php

    http://www.tmzhosting.com/proxy.php

    Which one would you recommend? Or do you suggest any other hosts..I am new to the field so avoid any complicated technical terms.
    The site is totally new and not expecting too much traffic for the first month, but i was getting around 200 UV's a day and about 600 Page views a day..here is my site URL: www.anonymousplanet.com.

    Also since i cant access my CP for my above host I was wondering if I could use the same domain on another host by changing the name servers on godaddy to the new hosts one, or would I have to make some other changes before going to a new host?

    My Budget is around 10$(max. monthly)

    Hello,
    I am the ceo at Extreme Proxy Hosting (www.extremeproxyhosting.com). we are a new company (just over 1 month old) but i have over 1 years expence in proxys and unlike the other big proxy hosts i am happy to help you ever step of the way, customer satisfaction is our main priority and also in my expirence it is better to go with a small company than a big company becuase a big company does not need you as a customer, what is one customer to a big hosting company who had thousands of customers, where as small companys care more about there customers becuase they actually need that customer.

    if you do not allow youtube/myspace videos or downloading through your proxy you should be fine on any one of our packages.

    if you do allow youtube/myspace videos or downloading through your proxy may i recommend getting Netherlands Package 1 Or 2, as these are unmetered bandwith accounts so can cope with high bandwith.

    if you want to resell hosting, then may i recommend Netherlands Reseller 1.

    Prices Range From Just $3.99 USD to $17.99 USD for normal hosting
    Reseller Prices Are: Just $25 USD

    If you can beat our package specifications and prices i will happily match the other sites price as i would rather you where with a good host than a cheap but not so good host, sady however i cannot match these $1 a year plans or these unlimited plans as these both involve overselling which is something i am passionate against.

    Thanks
    James Ceo Of Extreme Proxy Hosting (www.extremeproxyhosting.com)

    Wdservers.com is hands down the best, IMO. I have used them for over a year and they are great. I have tried many hosts and they have been the best. Great support, Great servers, Great speed, Great price. You can talk to him here on DP, the ID is thewird.

    If you don't use WDservers then I would use techentrance.com also can be contacted here on DP user ID techentrance. I have never used them, but I have on good word that they are a quality provider.

    Yes, changing the name servers at godaddy will point your site to the new host. You just wouldn't be able to get your files off of the old host, hopefully you have them backed up on your pc.

    As for you budget, you can start with that, but if you are serious about proxies you need to be spending $30- $60 a month to start to see a decent return. I pay $269 for a dedicated Quad core 2.4ghz machine.with 4GB ram and 100mbs port and unmetered bandwidth. However I started with a $30 a month VPS. When I made $1500 with my proxies in Jan last year (2008) I had my dedicated server maxed out.

    You can make hundreds or thousands a month with proxies if you work hard, but you are going to have to get serious. Which means a serious host, its the most crucial piece. Don't mess around with your host, get a good quality one. Start small and grow each month.

    As for your domain name, if I can throw in my two cents on that. Its too hard to spell. Proxies travel HEAVILY by word of mouth. Upwards of 90% of my traffic is direct type in traffic. Thats 90% of 10,000 UV per day which is 9,000 (nine thousand) UV per DAY. Typing my domain names in. anonymousplanet.com is too hard. lol just typing this I tried to type anonymous 4 times and messed it up and just copied and pasted what you typed. Its being typed by slackers at school. Slackers don't do well in school generally speaking, nor do they do well in spelling. Make it easy. My latest is PenMax.info. Pretty easy. or SpanishQuiz.info lunchmax.info mathminor.info you get the point. Think easy and simple. If you need help then do a google search for a database of easy words that are common and just start combining words. Anyway, its got to be something the average person knows how to spell and pronounce. Also something that if someone called you over the phone and said, go to this website. That they could say the words (without spelling it to you) and you hang up and go type it in the web browser and its going to come up. If its too complicated to be understood in that manner, then its not optimum for a proxy.

    Anyway, most importantly stick with it. Think outside the box and work hard and you will do well. I average over $1000 a month in proxies. I made almost $900 last month and I slacked off. There is huge money to be made, and its not complicated. Your off to a good start, always keep moving forward. :D

    loopline Techentrance.com IS WDServers =) The servers for TechEntrance are provided by WDServers and the owner of WD also co owns TE. They are a great host though.

    From my own last 2 years experience I would suggest you to choose Hagiohost, they are way better than the two you are proposing.

    Bad things? Search tmzhosting on DP or on google there is nothing but positive reviews and testimonials. I would like to see where you saw these bad things.

    I agree with LoopLine, I was referred to WDservers by him, thewird has been incredibly helpful and they have good prices.
    Like loopline said, if you want to make sure your proxy suceeds, don't mess around with cheap, unreliable hosts.

    @james
    thanks for the offer ill think about it
    @loopline
    i listened to your advice and just bought HidePath.com from godaddy and will be getting a .info domain.
    also i did check out your ebook thread but the price was too steep so i will buy it sometime in the future if i can afford it.

    also out of memory and bandwith which is more important for a proxy server and what would be an ideal range for the two for a starter?

    also thanks everyone for your replies.

    Again I recommend TechEntrance.com. You can start at the lowest level and if you see that you need more bandwidth you can just upgrade at the cost of the difference between your current level of hosting with them. When I was really into the proxy business I started out with the lowest hosting and after a few weeks went up to the third. It is much cheaper then buying your own server and is greater quality if you ask me.

    Well i was gunna suggest iwhic as ive been with them for a while. I had no idea they'd recently sold out though :mad: .

    As for cmodz. keep away imo. I had a server with them a while ago and when my site was getting 15 visitiors a day they told me i had to upgrade to a VPS or they would terminate me.

    As i found it rather ludicrous that 15 visitors would require a VPS i swapped right out to iwhic.

    I always thought about switching to TMZ in the past as i heard nothing good about them. In fact if i had to switch tomorrow, TMZ hosting would be my next stop.

    If it helps, i've been running proxies for a couple of years now.

    Cheers,
    Dan

    OK i've got a doubt now..it seems like a tie between wdservers and techentrance.com
    But i still dont understand why techentrance which offers lesser bandwith(25GB) and Lesser space (1GB) for 7.95$ is preferred even though wdservers have a great hosting plan like this:
    VPS Plan 128 (Not recommended for running websites)
    * 128MB RAM
    * 10GB Hard Drive
    * 5 Mbps = 1500GB Bandwidth
    * $15 /month

    From the information given above it seems like what wdservers is offering is a lot more higher than what techentrance offers..but people stil prefer techentrance..any reason for this?

    WDS Servers and TMZ Hosting are two great web hosts, I see a lot of people asking this question so I set up ProxyHost.org so people can review and rate all the different hosting services available. You should check it out, theres plenty of different proxy hosts out there.

    I think it's to do with scale, WDServers primarily sell dedicated servers and look after them right there at the datacenter. I use thewird's services and he's always experimenting with server setups that are a lot more efficient and highly targeted at proxy owners. I don't know how he does it, but yes, he offers some great prices. Thewird (WDServers owner) has also partnered with the owner of TechEntrance.com so you get the best of both worlds really. I can't say much for TechEntrance pricing and it is a little bit more expensive than other proxy hosts but you certainly get great support to go with it. It depends how many proxies you plan to host as well.

    I am planning on hosting at the max only 2 proxies to start off with so that means for the first month i am just gonna have one proxy hosted..so which one the two would you recommend? I am leaning towards wdservers because i dont think 25GB of bandwith would suit my needs..as when i had my old proxy i used up around 3Gb in 3 days >_< and it wasnt even advertised enough.
    Anyway Ive decided not to use tech entrance as the price and the specs dont go well together..I am now tied between HagioHost(read the review you wrote) and Wdservers.

    There is also Monsterprox that I think on par with wdservers and techentrance.
    You might want to check it out.
