hello everyone do you think your studies and graduate degree still matters in today's world?? I mean to say if you hold masters degree, will you get good job?? or something like that
I think so... it may not be in the exact field you studied but you will get a good paying job. If anything College/University shows that you can be taught and that looks good to any employer.
It may not determine whether or not you get a job, but it will affect your salary speaking from personal experience...
A degree only matters if you wish to spend your life as a wage slave. If you want to advance yourself above servitude, it's education that matters, a degree is only incidental.
That statement makes sense in some professions but a degree isn't automatic ca$h. I completed an MBA program and my employer recognized it by giving me MBA assignments (do strategic analysis that a co-worker was failing to complete) and balked at compensating for it. Many employers (especially in IT) advertise for someone with a 4 year degree or X years equivalent experience so education is not always valued. I would think it matters more where competition for jobs is high like India or if certain letters behind ones name is highly valued like in the financial field. tbarr60 BSME, MBA
I think attending College and getting a degree is tremendously important. It isn't having a piece of paper that really matters (Once you have had 2 or 3 serious jobs, new employers care more about what you have done then what you were qualified for 10 years ago). The responsibility of being on your own and working towards a goal teaches focus and determination which are crucial whether you get a 9 to 5 or start your own company. I also feel the contacts I made were invaluable. On top of that I was forced to take classes I wouldn't have normally like Public Speaking. These are also important. I still take classes (I just finished a course on Negotiating which was brilliant) because development is important. You can "learn from the streets" and be very successful but I do think formal training helps when you get to a higher level.
If you get a degree in finance, that and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee. Dual majors are the way to go, combine the finance degree with geology and you can walk into a well paying job at almost any brokerage house. I never finished my degree and couldn't care about it either, but then I would die if I had to work in a corporate office.
i put no however it depends on the job really. most jobs now-a-days can be taught on-site and not much need for college degrees or whatever.
A degree will help you go further. I got my first job over another good candidate simply because I had a degree and he didn't. Is this fair if skill levels are same, who knows. Do note this, no matter what anyone says, in the end of the day, any jobs you apply for will be looked at by HR staff. These HR people look for stuff like qualifications when bringing forward the fional list of potential candidates. Your degree will also help you go further in your career. Management will see any qualifications you have done as a sign of you working to improve your skills and asset level for the company. Between HR and management, that extra qualification/degree you do can make a great difference in how your career path goes. Of course you will come across companies which look at experience, but the majority in my experience use HR staff who aren't as interested in experience at times than at qualifications. my 2 cents
well ive not worked much but i did well in school. however for the kinda job i want you do like a college course x amount days a week and work the rest of the days.
It really depends on your career goals, there is no clear cut answer. For example, if you want to start your own company, a college degree is not necessarily required, but you have to weigh whether the time/money you invest is worth the experience/knowledge you gain. The most valuable advice will probably come from someone with experience in the field you are planning to get into. Regardless, there is probably nothing that is more fun than the college experience and atmosphere
I have a degree and it's done me no good. For what I do it's not needed. It all depends on which profession you choose to enter. But I am glad I have it and the overall "experience" (five years ) was great too.
Is that at McDonalds University? But really, it is up to the person as to where they become educated, some jobs will require a higher level of schooling to be able to successful. My suggesting is to get the highest level of education you can for the market you are going into.
Unfortunatly yes. A lot of places ask or a degree and will not even give you an interveiw without so you could be amazing but without the degree you have noway of showing this because they wont even let you though the door. I can understand why though if you have passed a degree they know that you are at least at a certain standard at all the things covered in that degree, anythings your better at is a bonus and what makes you successful at the job or not.
I think a degree is very important and if you have the opportunity to study take it. I’m working on getting my degree so that when I get my credit cards it states Dr. (joking)
A degree is important if you have not working experience. If you have been working for a few year, you job performance will take much bigger role
