Hello fellas ... I have another computer which has the following specs My current system specs is 1. I am not willing to Sell the old system 2. I have read somewhere in some mag where it is shown that old pc can be converted into Media Center PC or a downloading rig .. I dont like to make my old pc like that 3. I think the only addable part is 40 GB IDE HDD to my system ... and i don't wish to do that either So any suggestion from u guys and girls on how i can use this old computer productively ..? I am thinking of making it as my personal server but i dont have a router ... i have just the DSL modem provided by my ISP... AFAIK making a server requires router .. right..? Is there any ways that i can make a connection from the old system to this one without spending much money ..? BTW one more thing the old pc has a old UPS ..microtek brand .. it is not giving backup .. As soon as the power goes off it,the computer will just switch off .. i think the battery has died .. any cheaper and economical ways to make use of this dead UPS ...?
Do you install windows OS on the old computer ? I suggest you reinstall a new linux OS like ubuntu . Learn how to work in linux environment . how do you think of it ?

If it's still working and you have no intention of using, then just donate it to charitable organization who will make use of it.
well i do have intention of using it so i have created this thread BTW yes i will give it a charitable organization after say one year
If you just put it all in the boot of your car, all the extra weight will increase the traction of the back wheels when there's thick snow and ice about. Could even save your life by avoiding a skid, this way. (Possibly of limited value in India, I admit).
