New DoFollow search engine (all sites verified Jan 1st 2009)

Today everyone knows the value of gaining relevant, dofollow backlinks. However it seems that every list of dofollow blogs posted on the internet is filled with nofollow blogs.

So a few days ago I decided to compile and verify a personal list of up to date dofollow blogs. It was great brain dead work given the hangover from my NYE party :D.

I've reviewed over 1000 sites in the last 2 days.

    Here's a sample of what I found:

One of the most popular dofollow list: http://courtneytuttle.com/blogs-that-follow/
51% of the 151 URL's are currently dofollow! I was amazed that this list had so many bad URL's given its wide distribution. What I found even more amazing is that so many people continued to post comments to the nofollow blogs. Such a waste of time!

Which made me think that others could benefit.

So I've created a customized search engine and loaded my list. I've played around with it for a hour but would like a few others to test out the site and give me their feedback.

The tool should allow you to find dozens of relevant dofollow blogs to place comments.

Given that a few rotten spammers ruin the bunch I'm not going to post the link for everyone.

PM if you are interested in checking it out. I'm looking for 5 testers who will give me feedback.

I will also be taking new dofollow blogs soon too.

The reason why people change from DoFollow to NoFollow is because of spammers. I hope you put warnings on your search engine to ensure comment posters are on topic and maybe READ the article they are posting against.

Off my soap box now :) Looks like you are trying to do the right thing, best of luck. I've sent you a PM.

    All PM's sent.

I agree with you about the spamming issue. We need to all be responsible or the dofollow movement will die.

I will be adding several resource articles reinforcing the right way to comment.

Thank you for your interest. I had several request last night and am now done testing the functionality. It was very successful so I expect to launch the site next week.

I'll post a link shortly for people to add their own dofollow blog prior to launch.

    Thanks again for everyone's interest.

As promised... Here's a link so you can include your dofollow blogs on my new DoFollow search engine.

Please don't spam. It won't be approved and just slow things down for everyone.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, blog owners can change there site from dofollow to nofollow very easily in a short space of time so that's why some of those blogs could have become nofollow all of a sudden

You could use http://www.followtopia.com. It doesn't just index a list of blogs or sites, but the whole internet, and it lets you know if the results are nofollow or not. It is the best thing I've seen for finding relevant sites to comment on. I even tried searching for "nofollow" and it was able to seperate the sites that actually had the nofollow tag from the ones that just talked about it.

I'm not sure why all websites would be bad. Maybe I missed the point of this thread. Is the goal to make a more up to date directory of do follow blogs for browsing?

It is not hard to find blogs though with followtopia, and you won't be limited to a list that people have added their blog to. Just try something like:

search term comments -"0 comments" -"no comments" -"comments (0)"

    Wallah lots of blogs. :)

The nice thing is that you can not only find blogs, but you can find forums or wikis or whatever else there is on the web.

The biggest problem I have with the site is its speed, but it is faster than looking at the source code of websites.

Just dig in a little and you'll learn why...
    1) blogs with entries of "0 comments" or "no comments" are likely owned by bloggers who don't want any comments or links leaving their site. I've excluded these false positives from my search site.

    2) I did a quick search in a common niche for me 'weight loss' and found over 50% of the 1st page results wouldn't allow you to gain a dofollow link. In fact I own two of the sites and I can assure you can't even post comments on them.

for 1) That's why I put the minus in front of "0 comments" or "no comments" for the search. The user can choose how they want to narrow. Sounds like you have some better ideas on how to narrow. What are they?

for 2) Be sure not to go to the nofollow websites that come out (they are marked nofollow). 50% doesn't seem half bad (er well it is exactly half bad :D, but it is also half good, and it is the whole internet, so you probably will get more results total). You can look through the results pretty quick.

Anywho, maybe it is not for you. Just saw the thread and thought it would be helpful. Congrats on getting some some pages ranked so highly. May the wind be at your back.

So is your database going to be more up to date than the other do follow search pages? There are a lot if you search on yahoo for "do follow search". Like you said most of them are not up to date. I guess you will have a crawl going that drops blogs if they switch to nofollow or something?
