Hi, I thought of this after I received pingbacks from random blogs who had Copy and Pasted my articles My question is: if you came up with a bit of news or something that was unique, you published it on your blog, and suddenly it went viral and the article was being reproduced in loads of other places, would you be penalized for duplicate content? Or does Google have a way to prevent this? Hope you can help, - urbt
have similar question for my own blog to be honest - interested to know what people think. i have set up several steps to try to avoid dupilcate content, however this has been something that i've wondered about before
Normally who indexed first within the search engine will benefit out of the content, and if the other websites / pages used almost exactly the same content will go into the supplemental results
No, whichever page Google deems most authoritative will rank regardless of who published first. This normally works out ok because all the other scrapers who are giving you pingback's are linking to your copy meaning it's providing weight to your version. There are exceptions, such as sites with a lot of domain authority for example if your page was published on Wiki say bye bye even though the Wiki page has no links to that page and you do. Again, whoever published something first means a big fat ZERO and i have no idea why people continue to say it does when that's never been the case.
when ever we creat a page and upload it... do u know whats inside.? in a new page, in properties of that page is date and time of the creation... and when we upload it to server, our servers record the time and date of uploads. so there is no problem if your unique content was last indexed by google and the copier's indexed firest. google check the time stamp, page properties and server time stamp report to determine who is the WINNER. if you are agree with me, then must reply to my openion.
well sorry I don't tell you in details and discuss the issue that duplicate content is not a big deal. Believe me But for you..yes just for you here is something that will benefit you even some one scarp your article. Put a link or two of your website in each article you publish from now on. This not only increase your ranking, PageRank but alos give you back links whenever some on scrap your content
Your post is not only totally false, it's flawed also. We don't live in the age of static .html files anymore, we live in the age of dynamic content where pages can change slightly every minute. What if your the original, then you alter the page to correct a 1 character typo 6 months later it would make someone else the "winner".
This is correct. That's why it's pointless implementing 'rss scrapers' and that kind of thing on your blogs. it needs to be unique.
