Hello all, I was wondering what the general thoughts were on Link Units. Whenever I rearrange the AdSense placement I'm always forced into the conclusion that it would be "wasteful" not to place them, if you can... I mean, even in the most compacted and optimized page, surely you can make room for one line of links, usually even a small square. "It's adsense" I tell myself every time, "it just takes a couple of lucky clicks a day, don't throw money out the window". But really, sometimes it can just be clutter if there's no actual proof that it's working. I haven't done enough channeling on them as I should have, but I know that at least the pages that I've tweaked wildly were changed by *Ad* Units, not Link Units. Another thing I'd try, if I wasn't afraid of being kicked out of AdSense completely, would be to use them in iFrames. I know that the first time I saw one, I clicked one of the links expecting the link to be an ad, but to suddenly get a page with a huge title "ads by google"? I never clicked back so fast in my life. Honestly, I only keep them because "other people do it"... I personally don't really care to see who's paying the most for that search term at the moment. On the other hand, if you didn't have to move to another page, if you could just place an iFrame and choose its size, possibly with DHTML to enlarge it if it detects a cursor, that'd be a bit more reasonable. And why should they care? It wouldn't be hiding the fact that it's ads, it just wouldn't appear so blatant. Thoughts? -Moran
I knew someone would find some reason to bite at the post because I'm new here, but word structuring? That's what you came up with? Say the topic's been chewed to death and point to some other thread from 5 months ago, tell me to lurk for a few more months and come back after I've found a clue, tell me my butt looks fat in these pants (really!?), but put some thought into it. Honestly. And I still haven't put in a newline.
