Is this a good VPS deal?

Discussion in 'Site & Server Administration' started by emitind, Dec 29, 2008.

I'm branching out into the VPS market, and came across Spry webhosts who have an offer on their VPS servers atm.

    http://www.spry.com/vps-hosting/2008-coupon/

I'm considering the VPS 200 package. Can someone please take a look at what they're offering for the price, and advise me as to whether it's a good deal? Any other reputable companies to consider with similar budget?

    Many thanks!

Price seems OK but I am not familiar with Spry. You should head over to webhostingtalk.com and search for reviews. You can also check the VPS Offers section there for tons of deals.

I havent heard fo them. You can search around for reviews in DP as well.
I would recommend Knownhost; I let them fix everything when I don't have time and all done no extra charge for hours work.

I've gone for FutureHosting.com who have a 50% discount on their VPS packages right now. Thanks for the tips.

No it is not. You can find VPSs with similar specs for a lot less.

This is very true, especially when it comes to hosting.

As always, check around and try not to go for the cheapest.

You really haven't shared how much capacity you need. If you have a 50 MB static website with no traffic then the cheapest VPS account you can find would be more than enough, and so would even cheaper shared hosting.

However, if you get 1500 unique visitors a day and the revenue from your site pays your bills, then you'll need to follow the advice given to go with value, not price. What are you trying to host?

    Best,

    Justin

Ps. I've never heard of Spry either. Good they are a part of the Seattle Internet eXchange, but that doesn't mean they aren't two guys with a closet of overloaded white box towers.
