The best suggestion would be to figure out what type of ads will work best on your site, and then find a network or networks that have those types of ads. You will find that just putting up a random smattering of ads will not convert well for you. You need to focus on ads that match your site. Have a site about dating, but up dating ads. Have a site about cars, do autoloans or car accessory ads.
What he said. Plus read and read and read about affiliate marketing. You'll find lots of helpful information on this forum. Just spend a few hours (LOL) reading the AM threads
I think Affiliate marketing is a wonderful way to create an online income and many web entrepreneurs have made a fortune on the back of it, however, it isn't an automatic key to internet profits. You have to get a number of things right to succeed with internet marketing. These things aren't hard to do, but they are necessary and you have to be prepared to take the time to learn and apply them.
I agree with the above posters! Reading through this forum is essentially like attending a free course in affiliate marketing. I would suggest opening up Word or another text program and start writing down ideas that you come across in the various threads. Once you have a list of about 20 or so ideas pick ONE. Study this idea and do a search in this forum as well as other forums like Warrior Forum, Sitepoint, etc. Write down everything you come across in your notepad file. Now IMPLEMENT. Do everything you can to stick with this idea. So many people including myself have what I like to call "idea Attention Deficit Disorder" - meaning I have trouble sticking with one solid marketing plan for longer than a month or two. Patience is key in affiliate marketing. Once you see some some income, see if you can scale up your idea. If you cannot see yourself making anymore money by trying different twists on your original idea, move on to another idea on your list. If you do the proper research and stay organized, you will eventually have success with one or more of the methods you discover in these forums. Don't give up!
Check out what your competitors are doing and who promotes them successfully be typing in link: www.competitordomain.com. Replace the competitordomain with your competitor's obviously and see what you can find. Pursue them to see if they will work with you and what kind of terms they are getting. Make sure your program is at least competitive and affiliate friendly with good tracking and see what happens, good luck!
You would do yourself a whole lot of good if you mastered some art of online marketing... Affiliate marketing is really tough...especially if you are a beginner.... You will need a strong will power to stay on.....working hard..in spite of disappointing sales in the initial days and months.... Making money has never been easy...and it never would be !! 1) First join some good affiliate network, if you want a good affiliate network- Market Leverage. 2) Learn how keywords work, then learn a little bit about adwords and yahoo search marketing. Pick up an offer from your affiliate network, start promoting the offer and make money.
