I'm running my campaigns on the Google Search + Search Network and considering splitting these up into 2 campaigns: Campaign A - Google Search Campaign B - Google Search + Search Partners As unfortunately, you can't run the Search Partners on their own (Christ knows why!) I'm noticing that in my campaigns, some are performing far superior on Google Search and not very well on the Search Partners, and vice versa on other keywords. With this in mind, I'm contemplating having the same keywords in 2 campaigns. Do you feel the keyword that is triggered (between Campaign A & B on Google Search), will be random; whichever has highest Quality Score; or something else?
I believe it's split. Is the second one still producing a positive ROI? John Reese talked about how important it is to test Google Search along as well as search network in Traffic Secrets 2. Also test geography and time you make the most sales, as those can have a big impact on your ROI as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'the second one'? At the moment I have campaign A which has both Google Search AND Search Partners enabled. I'm thinking about copying the campaign but for Campaign B (copy of Campaign A) only having Google Search on. So at the moment there isn't a 'second one'. With regards to geog, my business only runs in the UK & Ireland (I'm not an affiliate nor am I selling directly), and I've found no evidence that certain parts of the country perform better than others - so that's another project for the future perhaps - also with time of day, the ads are being displayed; again, no obvious signs of a particular time frame being the best. As for 'traffic secrets 2' that sounds like somebody selling something that can be freely found out either on here or a bit of searching on the net, so I'll pass on that.
This is one feature I really wish they would put in, or at least let you select certain sites for the ads to show. In either case, your ads are most likely showing by highest quality score. Ive rotated between Google & Google partners and noticed a bit of difference between both. It really depends on the category or niche, but in most cases, i get a much higher CTR with just Google.
The bit I don't like is that because Google don't take into account CTR on the Search Partners to calculate QS, and you don't know what the CTR for an Ad is for Google vs Search Partners, it's hard to do split testing accurately. Who's to say Ad A has a higher CTR on Google, yet Ad B has a higher CTR on certain Search Partners? You don't know, as there's no way to split the 2 up either onscreen or in reports. Yes, you can see at the Adgroup level, but you still don't know which of your Ads in each adgroup performed on Google & Search Partners. Because of this, I've decided to turn off Search Partners and instead spend the same campaign budget on Google and see what happens. I'm expecting my cost per conversion to go down. If I decide to use Search Partners again, I'll probably try creating a copy of the Campaign(s) but bid a lot less, in a hope that most of the clicks will come from Google Search Partners.
